Some of the opinions in this thread show why this society is in the tailspin its in. I fear for our future.

Putting aside whatever you or I think, this kid is in a world of hurt. The law is the law. Its statutory rape. I don't care how "mature", or "sophisticated", or "slutty" a 14 year old kid may come across, an 18 year old having relations with her/him is not only seriously messed up, but its a clear cut crime. Her intent or "want" to have sex, to turn a phrase, is of no consequence.

Former New York Giant Lawrence Taylor, a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, pleaded guilty Thursday to two misdemeanor sexual misconduct charges that will require him to register as a sex offender.

In taking the plea deal, Mr. Taylor, 51, avoided the more serious rape charge he was initially charged with following his May 2010 arrest.

Mr. Taylor' won't face jail time, but he'll be put on probation for six years and have to register as a sex offender.

Mr. Taylor admitted to having sex with an underage girl prior to the arrest. He said he believed the girl, who was a runaway 16-year-old, was of consenting age. He'll be sentenced March 22.

Scroll down.

It would be a shame if JH would receive anything harsher than that. He shouldn't have to register as a sex offender either, imo.

Seems like even if Hill would have been 17 it still would have been illegal. Basically, he would have had to be 16 in order for this not constitute as oral sexual battery. He would have needed to be a soph. or a junior with late birthday, in order to receive oral from the freshman.

Funny thing the 1 year was mentioned. It also seems like if she would have been 15 (a la 1 year older) it wouldn't have mattered at all.

Though I could interpreting it wrong.

Honestly guys stop being stupid. He put himself in a bad situation, forced or not. If he is doing shot like this in high school what do you think he will do at LSU? I'm in high school right now and I can tell you that I don't hear about stuff like this going on. Why? Because it's not okay. Don't back him for being a dumb arse.

Let's wait and see, but consent doesn't matter, the age does.
The very thing that Les will do is exactly why I'm glad he stayed on..

That he gives him a chance (provided Hill did not use force)?

Me too.

Guess if it goes far enough, we won't have to decide on he said/she said for consent. A tape should clearly show her state of mind during the act.
Like I said earlier, it depends on what method was used to pressure her. If it wasnt anything terribly deviant, this will be thrown out or downgraded in a hurry. A judge might give him s stern talking to, but ultimatlyy it comes down to an age difference of four years and he falling within a technicality. It wasnt as if it were a generational age gap or something.

Technicality, because if this happens a year ago its legal.

I want to ask this. IF he was 17 years and 364 days old and this happens he is not a sex offender. But if he is 18 years 1 days old he is a harden criminal for life?

Yes, our system does recognize a change in status with the passing of a single day. It works for both privileges and consequences. One day makes the differene between underage drinking and legal drinking, being able to vote and not being able to vote. Laws are written to be applied to everyone. We can't have a system in which every individual will be judged by a different set of rules unique to their facts and circumstances. That is lawlessness.

I haven't read every post in this thread and I may be repeating a thought from someone else, but for those who say it isn't a big deal, what if it was your 14-yrs old daughter?

I do agree that common sense should be used as far as punishment goes, and you can't compare this act to a typical rape case, but this shouldn't be taken lightly, or dismissed as kids being kids.

I offically call BS on that article.

If she was forced, she woulda reported it after the event......

And if she did bragg about it on FB, the police is gonna find it...even if she deleted the comments or not

Bottom line: The boys AND the girl did what they did, and it was wrong...

But for the girl to say that it was rape or battery, shes throwing it into a whole another ballgame

This happened in "daddy little girls"...(tyler perry movie)

Then I'd be angry, at her. In this world, you need to be able to stand up for yourself, and you must face whatever pressure you recieve.

The reqality is that sexual relations happen. The average age for virginity loss is 16-17, and of course a 14 year old girl is going to encounter some prick who wants a bj. If shes given an option that wont result in a crime being commited against her like saying no and walking out regardless of the social ramifications, she better damn well do it.

Thats if she is my daughter, but looking at this from the perspective of an aspiring math teacher 3 years in, this is something you try to correct. It is not worth hurting a kids future over and damaging his potential as a contributing member of society. A judge will realize this.

Oh yeah I totally hang out with band kids and all. Your a dumb arse. Step back into reality and stop defending a sexual predator. Just because you can make some smart arse comment doesn't make the situation right. How could you defend someone that is the legal age and engages with sex with someone not close to their age. Nice try on the band one though. Trying to cover up your high school "outsider" days. I feel for you bro I wish you had a better high school experience I really do....
