Longview plays West Monroe in Shreveport next month, so we should get some good info on him.

Which of the TWO QBs that committed months earlier should they have told to kick rocks?

This isn’t difficult, the one that isn’t better than Haynes King!!!!

I remember that Haynes King was ours. It was where he wanted to play college ball and we never offered. Now, guess what!

Haynes King - #1 Dual Threat QB for 2020.

Now we will have to face him at A&M for at least 3 years

I hope it doesn't come back to bite us!

I think his ranking is a bump for Jimbo. That guy is not better than Bryce Young. I've watched him for years now and has looked better than King. King has been skyrocketing up the boards over the past year to an almost bullshite extent. I still like our QBs' potential better and I've been saying that since the King push on this site.

Haynes KIng - Did LSU make a mistake?

Probably much too early to tell, but I will say yes, we did.

Yes, and the kid is still in high school, and likely still growing. Yes or no?

Maybe, maybe not. Some kids dont really grow much once they reach 17/18. He could be 6'6-6'7 and that's it or grow to be 6'9, no telling. Point is he isn't 6'8 260 like you suggested.

Considering Mallett and Osweiler were both good to very good college QBs and about an inch taller than him, I dont see his current size being any issue.

Jamarcus was the last spectacular talent we had at QB....and look at his size.

The weight curve continues well past 20 years old (which is also a part of growth).

I'm 39 and I'm still on the weight curve.

I think he'll be an average passing QB. Great athlete with a good arm, but I don't think he's another Manziel.

So tired of hearing about this kid. If he was half as good as Barton Simmons thinks he is then Jimbo wouldn't have slow played him until just about every other QB was committed.

He seems to be a strange prospect. The recruiting services love him, but his offer sheet doesn't appear to be overly impressive. On the other hand, the service don't seem to like Johnson at all. However, his offer sheet seems more impressive than King

No mistakes were made. Little bit of bad blood after everything. Just best to move along.
Aggies are getting a good one and LSU is happy with what they have.

I'm not trying to say that players in the mold of T.J. Finley can't succeed, but using a single piece of anecdotal evidence doesn't prove much.

LSU bias aside. I think we made a mistake. King will have a better career than both Max and TJ.

But, for future recruiting, it may have been wise to keep the 2 that got on board first.

Big Ben
Jamarcus Russell
Daunte Culpepper came out of school at 6'4 235 and was 255 when he got in the NFL. He still ran a 4.52 40 and had a 39in vert at the combine.

Those are just the biggest names, and I tried to use height AND weight to show a clearer picture. They are plenty of tall QBs who were around 230-240 and plenty of shorter QBs (6'2/6'3) who weighed 240+) Everybody knows they'll put him on a conditioning plan once he gets here which will give him more muscle and less fat, so that 6'6 260 he probably does top out at will look good and work well.
