1 inch taller and 25 pounds lighter is concerning.

6'4" is tall for a back

I know Eric Dickerson , patron saint of tall running backs, was 6' 3"

Kid just doesn't look all that explosive to me. He needs to realize that a move to ILB would do his career wonders. Hopefully he proves me wrong.

Nope - move to TE/Rb hybrid in Canada's offense (F?)
He would be a star

I just feel linebacker would get him to the NFL faster than being an F-back.

I keep saying he's a Chris Brown ( Colorado) clone. He's a tall long strider who makes decisive cuts. But he's not a bruiser or a speed burner.

It's amazing that we says things like having a 4.7 40 yard dash time is "horrible" .....be it for a running back or whatever the case...in real life anything better than a 5.0 is like blazing fast....I'd bet anything that 98 percent of posters here couldn't run a sub 6.0 time in the same event. Truly amazing. And btw....he's in high school and has yet to really be trained at the collegiate level..I'm sure that 40 time would improve by a couple hundredths of a second to 4.5 and we'd just have passed on a 6'4 220 back with 4.5 speed....thank God real evaluation by actual coaches is done and is why this kid is being recruited and offered a full ride. I'm sure they see something more than a "horrible" 40 time. Stop ripping on kids and get a life...seriously.

I've heard that the kid runs too high, doesn't finish off his runs and is not physical. Many have backed off because they want him at LB & even TE

It's a recruiting forum where people critique recruits. Settle the frick down Nancy. And the kid doesn't use his size well at all.

Chill I-H8-Bama, HighlandRD Zero25 is right most people on here would have a problem running a sub 6.0 forty. It's not as easy as these top athletes make it look. But I'm here to talk about Joiner who has a lot more wiggle in him than Henry ever did. I still don't understand how Henry ran for all those yards in HS and his final season at Alabama like he did. He's a big plodding, lumbering back that has no elusiveness whatsoever, just runs straight ahead through players. He ran behind Alabama's line like they all did and that was a huge assist to him because he was already 20 yards down field before DB's got around to trying to bring him down, and usually it was too late.

He won the Heisman beating out LF the better RB with Alabama feeding him the damn ball in the second half of the season like he was their only offense with weak college teams unable to stop him running behind that huge line. Joiner may be better suited to play another position, but at least he can run with some elusiveness to him. Henry in the pros won't have that advantage anymore of running behind a big dominant OLine with everyone now being equal playing wise in size and all, and he'll become just another overrated Bama RB.

If his actual 40 time (NFL combine style) is 4.7 then that is pretty damn good for a kid that size. Jeremy Hill ran a 4.65 at combine for reference, and I don't remember many... if any...running him down from behind at LSU.

Personally...I think he ends up at another position eventually.

He does seem more elusive than Henry but he just doesn't play with enough physicality in my opinion. Didn't mean to be a dick, sorry.

This Joiner kid is nowhere in D. Henry's league, not even close.. People say bama's Oline was massive and great but that oline was not all that special at all. If Henry was not running the ball, it was for the most part a very big drop off. Keyon Drake had a few good games but nothing in the range of Henry. Hell, Henry was toting the ball over 30 times a game the last half of the season, because he was so dominant. Plus, Derrick may have been the fastest player in a forty yard sprint wearing pads, dude was never caught from behind, usually just out run guys, even if they had the angle...

Finishing off runs is falling forward. You see that in his highlights and that's what you would expect for someone of his size.

What Bama's Oline did for Henry for the most part was allow him to get up to speed and not get hit in the backfield that often.

Henry was a freak show with a head of steam.

I wasn't going to post it....so now we will both get hammered but I agree. Not really impressed. Im sure he can play but I think we need to look elsewhere.

He's not explosive. Neither was Henry.

Doesn't mean he couldn't be effective if used properly.

Coaches obviously like the kid.

Watch Henry's hudl from high school. He literally looks like a train rolling through. Most people couldn't even touch him and when they did he just swats them away. Joiner gets taken down in 1 on 1's vs db's and doesn't really out run people. Wherever he ends you don't think he stays at running back for long unless he can put on 20+ pounds and becomes more physical

Joiner and Curry would be a good 1-2 punch with Provens playing that RB/WR hybrid role
