Harlem Berry has proven on the field that he is one of the nation’s top running back prospects, and he backed up his lofty On3 ranking with another state title win in the 100 meter-dash – this time as a sophomore.
On Thursday, Berry clocked a 10.57 100-meter time to take first place in Class 1A at the LHSAA State Championships in Baton Rouge.
The event continues with 2A and 3A on Friday, followed by 4A and 5A on Saturday.
Berry, in his just second track season, set a personal record with his 10.57 second run (1.7m/s wind) in the finals.
Berry, who won a state title in the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash as a freshman a year ago, finished in second place in this year’s 200-meter dash with a time of 21.43. Kentwood’s Jermaine Brown took first place with a 21.24.

This kid is such a special talent. I really hope he has a good group/family for him to reach full potential.

That's one sec slower than the world record holder in the 100m who is Usain Bolt. IN short Berry is very fast

Would look good in p&g with Bama red jerseys in the background.
Come win a natty Mr Berry!

Don't know if it was wind legal or not, but Caleb Durham just ran a 10.25 a few days ago. We could have some insane speed at running back with Berry and Durham.

9.58 would be like Paul Skenes fastball
10.57 would be like Riley Cooper fastball

Yeah saw that also I did not know he was that fast. Not sure about the window part also. It makes sense why they offered in track also though.

Doesn't change its still one second off the world record.

You can't coach speed as this kid can flat out fly. I've watched Harlem play several times in person as he reminds me of Reggie Bush. The pictures below are 1 year apart from the State T&F Championships. Harlem as a 15-yr old FR (2022), and as a 16-yrd old SO (2023). You can tell he's been in the weight room and transforming from a HS FR to a young stud. I'd bet he's 5'11" 190# right now.
ponder these numbers

4. Deneric Prince (Tulsa) 4.41
5. Chase Brown (Ill.) 4.43

Michael Ford-esque upper arm in this pic.

Harlem's picture (biceps) reminded me of Herschel Walker who is actually 21 yrs old when the picture was taken (1981).
2nd from Left is Carl Lewis, track meet was at Bernie Moore.
Walker played at 6'1" 220 lbs as Harlem has a ways to go.

quote:bro still running 10.6 regardless. Kaleb Jackson ran a 10.68 this early April coming off a leg injury at 5'11 215. The 2025 offense could possibly have 3 speed demons at RB.

Matthew Langlois won this exact same state title and it was deemed irrelevant because it was 1a.
