Good recruiting has to happen before winning championships, not the other way around

Nick Saban, Kirby Smart, Urban Meyer, Pete Carroll, Butch Davis, Bob Stoops, etc. knew how to recruit extremely well before they ever won any championships. There really is an art and a skill to recruiting.
It’s not a matter of winning championships with sub-par talent and then all the recruits flock to your program. The talent has to come first. A lot of people seem to get confused about that.
When you ask how LSU can compete with Bama, UGA, and tOSU in recruiting, people say “win a championship”. That doesn’t happen if you don’t have the talent in place in the first place. It’s a typical example of what comes first, the chicken or the egg. Well, it’s the talent that comes first. Every coach I mentioned above took a few years to recruit before winning their first championships.
Ok, rant over

Apparently this is not common sense or common knowledge among Tigerdroppings posters.

Never change TD. Never change

So? This doesn’t apply to the current situation at LSU because recruiting is just fine. It’s exactly the same as it’s been under the previous 3 championship winning coaches. Some fans here have this delusion that LSU was a constant top 3 recruiter at one time. That’s never been the case. LSU has consistently recruited in the top 10 with years where we recruited in the top 3 and years where we were in the 8 to 10 range with the average being somewhere around 5 or 6.

Nick Saban was consistently recruiting in the top 5 at LSU. It can be done. It’s a shame that he left before he really got to reap the benefits of the program he built.

Good thing Brian Kelly has landed two consecutive top 5 classes and has the #1 class for this year.

Yep. Not really the point of this post though
Hopefully you actually read it and your reading comprehension didn’t fail you.

This is the second topic you’ve started about basically the same topic (first complaining about competing with UGA, now this). If you’re incapable of seeing that we’re recruiting at an extremely high level, you’re blind. Oh…. And it’s not just acquiring the talent, it’s developing it - something LSU has historically done as well as any school.
TLDR - chill with this nonsensical panic posting.

You are preaching to the converted. Go proselytize on the rant. They need saving.

I disagree.
Your thread is common sense. Nothing is riveting information. A majority of people who frequent the recruiting board understand the concept of recruiting and how that translates to winning a game.

Sorry that your reading comprehension is failing you.
This thread is about how recruiting relates to winning championships and the concept that skilled recruiting first precedes winning championships, not the other way around. Many people get confused by this and get it wrong.
I’m not referencing the way LSU is recruiting right now, which is actually at a really high level. I’m just addressing a general concept.

Common sense isn’t common. I’ve seen numerous posters on this board get this wrong.

Couple of things here
1. Butch Davis has never won a championship
2. Bob Stoops didn't go on much of a recruiting run until after his title in 2000, but OU obviously has no titles since, even on the recruiting heaters that they've enjoyed since.

Not enough to warrant this useless thread.
We’ll just agree to disagree, because I know your next response.
Post it on tRant, that’s probably the audience on your level.

He built 2001 Miami. Larry Coker was useless and not responsible for that historic championship team.

Feel free to not read threads and to not post in them if they’re useless in your opinion and nothing in them interests you.

If he can learn how to bring star DT’s and CB’s here, we will be unstoppable. But we are as far from good DT’s as I have ever seen us, that can change quickly though
