67% on a lot of downfield throws, comfortable in the pocket, with quick feet, and throws well on the run. I just looked at his highlights for the first time, and unless there is some ugliness in his lowlights I'd be thrilled to get this guy.

If Nuss does commit to LSU that will make 3 pedigreed QBs in the last 4 years.

Burrow - coach's son
Max Johnson - SB winning QB's son
Nuss - coach's son

Isn’t he expected to?

Caleb William's said somewhere in some interview that he plans to commit before his senior season. All these people that are talking about him waiting around really just want Nuss more and they'll say anything stupid thing to convince others. Me personally Caleb Williams over everybody else. This guy is Russell Wilson. You want to talk accuracy, Russell wasn't that accurate coming out of high school, but put up huge numbers with NC State for 3 years then went to Wisconsin to set a college QB rating record. I'm not saying Nuss won't be great, but my God a playmaker like Caleb learning fundamentals from Ensminger and pro concepts and footwork from Linehan!?!?!?

A lot of these people still don't understand the importance of a guy like Caleb at QB for a college team. Nick Saban learned it, Riley at Oklahoma learned it, Kingsbury learned it and took it to the NFL with him, and now hopefully Ed O understands it.

I don't think anyone really wants Nussmeier more. Our fans just have very low self esteem and are terrified of being left at the altar.

Regarding quarterbacks, a lot of them just have PTSD that apparently will take more than a national championship and a Heisman trophy to heal.

It will be interesting to see how the coaches handle this recruitment. Nussmeier is obviously a very good quarterback. None of the fans know how he, or any of the others, are rated by our coaching staff.

Everyone assumes that the recruiting services rankings and the coaching staff rankings mirror each other, which is often far from the truth.

They also communicate directly with these recruits, their coaches and often their parents. If LSU accepts a commitment from Nussmeier, it won't necessarily mean they have "settled" for him. Perhaps they have him rated higher than we think, or perhaps they already know that Williams is not coming here. Of perhaps they plan to take two quarterbacks, which seems unlikely, considering we signed two last year.

I agree you take Williams over nuss.
Hopefully the coaches are reading the tea leaves and make the right decision

It doesn't have to be an either or option. If Williams is as good as advertised he shouldn't be intimidated by Nuss committing. If he really wants to come to LSU he can come in and compete for the job.

whatever could you mean by this

Dude... get over yourself.

Flynn, Burrow, and Johnny Football were all dual threat QB’s. So take whatever I could mean by that.

Right. Thing is no one really knows if Caleb will commit if nuss already is.
Only the coaches know that, so I guess we will all have to wait and see it play out.

I don't think one person here would be mad if lsu grabs both

Nussmeier JR highlights
Nuss has some really impressive highlights.

Scout's take:
quote:

Adequate height with an average frame. Should be able to get north of 200 pounds. Provides outstanding production against strong competition at Texas 6A level. Accurate passer to all levels. Shows good touch on timing routes and other deep throws outside the numbers. Flashes playmaking ability to make impressive off-schedule throws under pressure. Pro-style but quick-footed in the short area and often makes first rusher miss to buy time. Encouraging ability to throw on the run. Physical ceiling may be limited. Ball gets out quickly but can still tight delivery. Occasionally takes unnecessary chances. Talented QB with gunslinger mentality and great football pedigree. Among the top Texas QB's in 2021 class. Projects to high-major level with possibility for long-term NFL Draft potential.

JR season stats:
3788 yds; 66.8% compl.; 38 TDs vs 11 INTs

He’s an absolute stud, no doubt.

Even for those who may think Williams is a better prospect, LSU can’t go wrong with either.

You remember wrong. Brandon committed the summer before his senior year.

Bet. Mason Rudolph wanted to commit to us but we turned him away because we were heavy after Brandon. Matter of fact, Brandon was down to us and Auburn and there was another QB that committed to Auburn ahead of Brandon which basically led to him committing to us. No doubt in my mind. I live in Bossier. Maybe you’re thinking of Anthony Jennings.

Watching his highlights I was really impressed with his ability to roll right or left, throw on a sprint or re-set his feet and throw darts. His ability to navigate the pocket for a HS JR is very advanced.

He's going to need to add weight, but he's got a HS SR season, and likely a RS year to get a CFB frame. If he does choose LSU I will be ecstatic. Hoping for both. Williams gives you a Jalen Hurts type player that can hurt you with his arm or feet.
