Not super worried about this given our 2021 safety haul, but worth mentioning nonetheless. FWIW, I think that the other decommitted 2022 safety from Texas (whose name is escaping
me at the moment) is still a possibility for this class. Even post-decommitment he called Walker Howard “our QB”, so we should still be in the mix, there.

Sarkisian is trying to awaken the sleeping giant that is Texas football and it seems to me that he has gotten off on the right track with his coaching hires and recruiting presence in his home state ironically.
I feel like one of Texas' biggest issues since their run in the early 2000's has been their inability to recruit their home state. They have continually lost recruiting battles to OSU, Bama, LSU, A&M, Georiga, OU. I can see with Sark there, it being harder for those schools to cherry pick.

Excluding transfers, here’s how their past 4 classes breakdown per 24/7:
2018 #3 class, 19/27 from TX, 5*= 2, 4*= 13
2019 #3 class, 12/26 from TX, 5*= 1, 4*= 6
2020 #8 class, 19/20 from TX, 5*= 0, 4*= 15
2021 #16 class, 15/21 from TX, 5*= 1, 4*= 7

Herman caught lightning in a bottle at UH by playing a shite schedule and beating a few big teams. I feel like Sark is wise beyond his years and has proven he can produce with a modern offense.
Obviously time will tell but I think he will do good there. I also think its good for college football when Texas is relevant.

Tom Herman(who I admit I wanted) my bad but true, had the #3 recruiting classes in I think 2018, 2020,. I still believe they were like Les’s classes you know 5 top safetys , 2 high ranked RBs but NO substance. I think Sark knows what he’s doing but it’ll hurt Jimbo & Lincoln more than us.

Sark seems sober and looks like he may be on the right track to turn Texas around. And the last thing any program in the country is for Texas to become what they really can be.
Good news on that end is it would put a dent on Alabama’s monopoly at the moment as well.
