For now.

I'm more concerned about CFB as a sport.

Unfettered Free Agency year to year is simply not sustainable. There has to be SOME level of control.

And you will all be crazy mad when some school like Ohio State takes a guy like Perkins.

It'll happen eventually.

Pro Sports, within their leagues, is not capitalism and in many ways. Players are restricted from movement. The League with the most restrictions, the NFL, is the best league...

There has to be some level of control where players cannot simply leave every year for the highest bidder.

Won’t happen bunch. LSU is in too good of a position. Players are not as hung up on NIL as people think.

99% of the transfers move schools due to opportunity , coaching change, or disciplinary measures.

A stable LSU program will do the taking.

Didn’t A&M pay all these guys in Bitcoin at some point, thought I read that somewhere, I wonder with all that FTX stuff happening if that’s an issue with A&M too.

Both Denver Harris and Chris Marshall will very, very likely have new homes next season.

From A&M

Didn’t realize Marshall was the number 3 receiver last year in their class.

Both have interests in us?

There was talk that they paid guys in crypto to attend their pool party. I didn't hear anything about guys getting paid NIL deals in bitcoin.

Nothing wrong with getting paid in Bitcoin if you lock it up in cold storage for the long term. It is a future global reserve asset.

If a player accepted shitecoins then they got rekt.

With the way LSU has positioned Perkins it would take a hell of a NIL deal to pull him away from his draft stock that LSU has given him this season

My big concern is when a coach like House moves on does he take the whole defense with him?

Let's say Saban hires House and then you lose Perkins to Bama

Big talent agency. They rep Olivia Dunne, Shedur Sanders, Chet Holmgren last year, DJ Wagner, etc.

Agree 100% Lester. Good post and points.

Coach Kelly is building a program and culture here at LSU. IF build that type of program that wins games and competes for Championships and treats this young men as more than just football players, develop them as students and young men in other areas besides football, the NIL will take care of itself. Kelly can use this to teach life lessons, the Best Engineers make more money than the average engineer, the best Attorney's argue cases in front of SCOTUS and get paid more than an attorney who handles local cases only, etc. The Best ball players make more than the 2nd team guy on the depth chart, etc, etc.

Jimbo tried to build a program via NIL without a championship culture and program. You have guys making money who haven't done anything yet, the program hasn't won crap under Jimbo and now you have a dumpster fire over with the Yell Leaders.

I heard Greg McElroy state that Bama took in 4 major Portal guys, 2 of them he said were there for purely transactional reasons (Ricks and Burton) while Gibbs and Steen were there for more of the right reasons.

With unfettered Free Agency, I don't think we can say with any certainty what will and won't happen.

Kayshon Boutte seems to have come very close to leaving.

If some school with a huge huge huge rich backing (like... Texas?) decides to start dropping ENORMOUS sums of money, who is to say?

Yes?

I simply hate the No Restriction Transfer rules coupled WITH the NIL stuff.

It is completely unfettered free agency unlike anything in pro sports and a recipe for disaster. Having both isn't good for the sport IMO.

Well what you are suggesting already happened. Addison the WR from PITT, top WR in the country last year, went into the Portal for NIL deal to USC.

I like Lester think most kids want some NIL but want a program that they feel is going to support them not only for football, but also in their development outside of football.

If it was all about NIL, then this expected exodus from Aggie would not happen.

I think NIL can be managed, and I think there may be some players in the portal who are in it for purely transactional reasons (i.e. NIL) that Kelly is just not going to be interested in.
