Fitzgerald West to the portal

LSU DL Fitzgerald West (@Fitztheboss68) has entered the NCAA transfer portal, @On3sports has learned.

In 2022 he was a DL, in 2023 he was moved to OL. 2 years and West hasn't seen much PT. I suppose he wants to go somewhere that he can play immediately and not get buried in the depth chart. He would probably be very competitive in the SBC at ULL. Wish him the best as this will open up another roster spot.

He actually looked really good in the bowl game last year, but that wasn’t even Vandy-level competition. I was hoping it was a sign he might progress to at least being a rotation player, though.

I thought so too. Orgeron screwed him up I think by recruiting him as a center.

Concerning that we’re losing d-linemen faster than we can bring them in. He’s young too. A big position if need.

I can honestly say I’ve never heard of him but I wish him the best regardless. Hopefully he can prove himself somewhere else.

In 2022 he started out on the OL and then moved to DL. Pretty sure he’s been all DL this year. Just couldn’t crack the rotation.
I was kinda surprised at that he’d lost so much weight, going from like 315 last year to 285 this year.

I remember him being recruited. Had high hopes for him, but those are the ones you hope yoy hit on. We didn't in that case. Don't fault him for transferring.

He was a reach in recruiting out of high school, and they experimented with different positions for a while and now everyone realizes he needs a lower level of program. Good luck to him.
