Fact Check: LSU can sign a player in August if the player entered the portal timely.

I know LSU can sign a player after the portal closes if the player entered the portal from January 2-16.
I know there are exceptions to the portal window, such as the 15-day window for players at schools with coaching changes (starting five days after a new coach is hired), the 5-day window (January 20-24) for players in the CFP NC game, and the separate rules for Divisions II and III.
I cannot seem to find a deadline for a player to be signed, except possibly to be enrolled at the school for the fall semester.
Any different information?

Definitely sucks to miss spring practice. But Kiffin signed Chambliss in April, Chambliss missed spring practice, and that turned out okay.
Still, LSU is replacing lots of folks. It's nice to have the option to sign players after spring practice, and even up to fall camp, if LSU needs to do so.

Yes. All they need to do is to have entered into the portal during the January portal period. They don’t have to sign with anyone at that time.

There wont be a decent d2 QB left after the 3rd week of January. Everyone is going to try and replicate this Chambliss situation.
