I like it. You cannot be too deep or too good on the DL. It's like that song:

It's like too much money, there's no such thing
It's like a girl too pretty with too much class
Being too lucky, a car too fast...

Rosenthal

Rosenthal will be on the OL for LSU, with certainty. I know there is a faction on this board that doesn't care for Jimmy Deets, but the guy is a stellar talent evaluator and he has Rosenthal rated much higher on offense than defense. And he's not alone. Alabama wants him badly on their offensive line as well.

I've been expecting a few decommits myself before the final push really heats up. Hopefully that means there really are some big name silent commits, and we have some strong feelings about other prospects who are still highly contested.

Dude is going to surprise the frick out of people. Sometimes, it's difficult to quantify "football player" - Curry has "it" - all I can say.

It would seem that his measurables say OT and that's what a lot of posters want and believe. But hasn't it been said often on here that he wants to play DE? In fact, wasn't it said that one reason he eliminated Alabama was that they insisted on OT? So, if that's what he wants, then it would seem likely he would start at DE and not move unless/until he sees for himself that he would be better off on the other side.

For whatever it's worth, I think he would be a better fit at OT and better off there as well. Those are premium positions of need and through tickets to the NFL; DE not as much.

You are correct. The coaches will give him a fair chance to make it at his position of choice.

There is a certain amount of waxing and waning going on. Overall, I think tackle is going to be your best "guaranteed" pay position after QB, very close with elite pass rushers.

But I was surprised to see how many LBs and WRs are at the very top of the non-QB salary list the past couple of seasons - considering how undervalued those players are from a rank-and-file/depth standpoint.

Did the rules change during this recruiting period and catch the coaches off guard? Weren't they still making new offers in just the last couple of weeks? These new rules on going to change the way these big programs recruit. It is also going to put a heave strain on waiting for kids to announce on national signing day. Offering early to marginal recruits will become harder.

As people have said earlier in this thread, this is the nature of the business now. It absolutely sucks to have to tell kids to look elsewhere, but with the early signing periods, and the 25 max you can sign, you're going to be getting used to this. This is the first time they're using the early signing period, so they're not going to necessarily run this perfectly. This may piss the coaches and players off, but it's something that happens sometimes.

In addition, I do think either Hines or Rosenthal need to be an OL for LSU, maybe both.

As it’s already been mentioned, one of the issues the coaches face is loosing the trust of the high school coaches. Next year or a few years down the road you don’t want coaches telling kids not to trust LSU, they’ll pull your scholarship if they think someone better comes along. All this has to be handled very carefully.

I believe I read that they will be given the opportunity to compete on the DL. Read between the lines.

I agree. If you go back and look at the 2016 class Devin White is listed as a RB. Just saying........

It does hurt, but this year is different with the new rule. Not sure when it went into effect or what notice coaches had, but it was originally thought we would have 28-29 in the class. As long as enough time is given it should work out. Can't cut the kid the day before the Feb. signing period.

Way it works. Sorry, but with a 'hard cap' of 25, we have way too MANY top prospects out there that have a very realistic change of being Tigers (pick 5-7) - Surtain, Marshall, Joseph, Chase, Rogers, Joiner, Cook, Watkins, Foster, Fox, etc.
