was told by one of the better known sources who posts on 247 that the staff is trying to push off a few current commits... so don’t be shocked if we see some

A few would be good because we have positions that we could upgrade at. But LSU doesn't want to piss off HS coaches by pulling offers from players that have committed. Very delicate matter. So some hints are being made. All part of the process.

Yeah don't wanna piss coaches off, but this new system of 25 max is going to affect this even more than before.

I could see Jaray Jenkins being encouraged to look elsewhere. Need to make room for Marshall and possibly Chase.

Thats why i dont understand them offering these under the radar guys so early. At least wait to see if they prove they are scholarship worthy after their senior year. Now it looks bad if they have to pull their offers or encourage them to look elsewhere. Especially if they are local kids. Doing great in a camp is one thing but doing it game in and game out for a season is something else.

I don't see Curry being one at all. Kid is good at a major position of need.

Without any insider knowledge I suspect a lot of people saw this coming. I expect we will be shuffling the deck in the next couple weeks and on up to the final signing day.

It is tough though. You want to do right by these kids for their sake and for your reputation, but it is the nature of the business.

Yeah I don't get it either. No matter how you try to spin it, pulling an offer (without discipline issues) will leave a bad taste in the kids and their coaches mouth.

I don't see encouraging them to look around as being a bad thing necessarily. If their goal is to get to the NFL, and they're not going to see the field, it's probably in their best interest to find a program where they can make an impact and get playing time. Sure there are players who are career backups in college who still make it to the NFL, but why chance it when there are dozens of schools who would kill to have someone that a program like LSU (or others) wants but just don't have room for.

If this is true (and I'm not questioning you) it speaks to the fact that they must really like the new commit- Dominic Livingston, the DT out of Texas.

Currently at DT we have committed:
-Hines
-Cotton
-Rosenthal
-Jenkins
-Livingston

If scholarships are getting tight taking a pledge from Livingston so that fully 25% of your scholarships are taken to fill your front 3 on D is a statement (Assuming DEs like Cherry, Moore and Scott are counted as LBs). Maybe they think they'll lose one of those or maybe Rosenthal moves to OT but with a firm 25 under the new rules 5 on DL is interesting.

I think we have one of those guys move to the OL. Rosenthal and Hines are most likely of that bunch.

I think Coach O really wanted to add depth to these positions more than any and it shows.

Which means they expect commits from better players?
