Smart is Saban. He’s the only other person and is a clone. He also is in a state that has exploded with elite talent over the last 2 decades.

Then you have Jimbo at A$M bringing in a #1 class.

Fishers average recruiting class, per On3, is 8th excluding the outlier of 2022. They’re currently sitting 12th.

LSU already has a leg up on all of these teams because of no in state competition.

This doesn’t mean anything honestly, not anymore.

No excuses for anything less than a top 5 class every year.

That’s what I said. We need enough high caliber players every year. Some years that will equate to a top 5 class, some years it will be 7th. I don’t particularly care what the number is, as long as the talent level and position needs are met.

It’s important to remember that:

1. This kid has been vocal about where his heart lies.

2. He’s coming to Tiger Stadium in November.

I think being there for a night game this season is going to spark that feeling again of wanting to be in the bayou.

I’m not even trying to just be optimistic for my own sake. I really think he realizes LSU is the place for him after the visit in Nov.

What makes Smart equal to Saban? He was getting #1 classes before winning anything. Saban built a strong reputation by winning. The only thing that makes sense is that UGA started offering more cash than everyone including Alabama.

UGA doesn’t even recruit the state of GA very well. Look at the numbers over the years. Their elite classes have been a mix of elite GA talent with a lottt of Elite prospects across the country. UGA has to recruit against Alabama and Clemson big time and then throw in Auburn, South Carolina, FSU, and Florida too. LSU is in way better position recruiting their own state than most programs especially UGA.

I threw Jimbo and A$M #1 class just to prove that somebody besides Saban and Smart can bring in a #1 class.

I completely agree every now and then a top 7 class would be okay considering circumstances. But LSU should get a top 5 class every year on average.

It's pretty funny looking at the melt in this thread.

He's very likely going to Texas. This would surprise nobody but to melt over Embody's comment is even more hilarious when everyone in here knows LSU's insiders suck.

Embody doesn't know jack shite and he's probably basing it off Texas insiders more than anything and Texas insiders are probably right.

tl;dr stop being pussies and melting over Embody's comment. It's pretty close to the average ranter. LSU insiders: Just say my source says it's a 50/50 chance he lands at LSU! That's about the extent of their knowledge on the vast majority of the recruits. For such a big university we consistently have the worst insiders. Clearly none of them realized that in order to get anywhere in Louisiana you have to be in inner circles for the god ole boys network.

I gather that UT is offering commitment bonuses to players to avoid visits like this. I'd imagine if he commits to UT, he cancels that visit. But, he can call their bluff if he really wants to visit.

Commitment bonuses?

Lol bro, players should be compensated. But when shite like that is going on, wtf is happening to college football?

This...

People have too much of an emotional reaction to this stuff. Remember this is a big decision in the kid's life and there's a lot of factors that play into this (and it seems like proximity to family because of his brother's autism and ability to make their life financially comfortable is a big deal to he and his family).

Based on what's being reported right now, Colin has stronger relationships at LSU and their plan for him is stronger, but hard to overcome mom's desires and attachment to family.

With that in mind, we still have the OV, an opportunity to up the ante on NIL and continue to work on the family until ESD.

As I've said many times, none of this is ever over until there's pen to paper, and even then, it's just a one year contract (except in the case of Daugherty, which was weird).

I'm not saying that'll change anything, but there's still chances to create a situation that may or may not sway him in our favor.

(and to anyone saying we can't "close on big time recruits", go play in oncoming traffic - that's a crappy narrative for people that want to sulk about missing on prospects that EVERY school wants and only one can get... look at UGA in the past week... they're losing top guys left and right...)

I don’t know what made Smart different from other Saban assistants but he obviously is. Will Muschamp ain’t never recruited like that. I assume him being Sabans right hand man for over a decade, he made serious in roads in recruiting.

The word on the internet says his family wants him to stay home. I can understand that but this is the kids moment.

His dad is an lsu fan and raised him to be an lsu fan. His family is planning on moving wherever he goes. The stay home crap is texas spin. It’s not like they live down the street from UT.

The are money whipping families. It’ll blow up in their face eventually.

This is will not be a top 10 class! BK can’t close on 5 star elite players. And refuses to bid even a little. McKinley will end up being side by side at UT with Simmons and with just a little fight they would be here. But BK will move on and portal it again!

I been telling myself it would be Texas just for the reason of having an autistic lil brother that loves Collin big time!! No way he was leaving to go to far, it’s whatever
On to the next one, I sure hope we can close out on McKinley now cause if he choose Texas also then that will sting even more
