Only 4 Quarterbacks in NFL history have started a game listed as 5'10.
Houston is officially listed at 5'10.5 his Jr season.
Maybe he grows a bit more his Sr season, who knows. Either way, there are a lot of QBs sub 6' that thrive at the CFB level.
On the NFL side, once you get to 5'11 you start to see more talent ie Russell Wilson and Drew Brees. That's 2 future HOF QBs to go with 15 other sub 6 foot HOF QBs.

At the college level, which is what I care about, the ability to move in the pocket will open up throwing lanes more than a 6’2” statue. Breaking containment and the ability to throw on the run changes the dynamics of the position. I like who we have.

You did miss the news and the boat, you fig.
The correlation between 5'10 QBs and playing in the NFL is slim and none.
Houston is slim and none height. Playing well against high school competition and facing a SEC team on National TV with elite Defenses, ain't the same.
Houston will play against McNeese State maybe in the 4th Quarter...maybe

Houston seems from interviews and film a solid backup. He aint beating out Longstreet in 2027 or 2028.
And.... here is from the world wide interwebs...
" The class of 2028 quarterback rankings are dominated by tall, prototypical passers measuring 6'3" to 6'5", highly sought after by major college football programs for their college-ready frames and arm strength."
Uhmmm....I don't see any 5'10 QB's. Houston has a tough round to sled. Slinging it in shorts and in HS versus Dline from a top 25 program will be a shock.
Good luck to him but it's VERY doubtful he plays in a meaningful SEC game.

In modern NCAA football it's easier for shorter QBs to thrive as well due to rule changes. You have to look at block schemes and how Kiffin uses his teams as well. I think there's a reason Kiffin was comfortable with him. If this guy was a few inches taller he'd probably be a top 3 rated QB consensus.
One of the most underrated attributes to a QB in my opinion is anticipation. That's what made Drew Brees elite. His anticipation on routes was what made his accuracy so good. It would often seem at times Brees was throwing blind but still hit it on the mark constantly. Houston on film looks like he has anticipation on routes which is a quality among elite QBs.

Good points and schemes are definitely huge in success for the body type of the QB.
If Houston was competing against lesser competition he would shine...but he's not as we know.
In 2027 it's Longstreet
In 2028 it's Longstreet
So best case is 2029 and that gives Lane 2 more classes to find a stud or two or three at QB.

Isn't Husan Longstreet only like an inch and half taller than Houston?
So let's recap.
Houston has the arm strength, anticipation, accuracy, and athleticism. BUT HE'S TOO SHORT!
Houston was the starter at QB in the Under Armor All-American game last year. 11-18, 1TD, 1 Rush TD.

Quarterbacks Setting the Tempo
That physical readiness translated early in practice, particularly at quarterback. Peyton Houston consistently stood out during install and team periods, showing command, timing, and poise within the offense. His ability to operate efficiently carried over to game night, where he scored on the ground and helped control tempo in a game that offered limited possessions and tight windows.

Uhmmm The Google is your friend ma'am. Longstreet is 6'1...as in not 5'10, as in 3 INCHES TALLER.
Funny all the shorties were loving on a QB named Hurley...you know, a few years ago, he was soooooo amazing in HS. He be gone ese.
Houston is not beating out Longstreet or any stud transfer in 2027 /2028.
Oh...someone else mentioned the midget Diego Pavia at Vanderbilt (he transferred multiple times too) . Well, unless Houston wants to wait until his 5th/6th years like Diego and be 38 years old, it aint the same.
HOUSTON will transfer
And to all the current Evangel Students in their basement down voting...you're a bunch of queens.

Houston won't be like Hurley and enrolling at 16 sporting a career 55% completion percentage.
Hurley was a big arm with accuracy issues. He also wasn't a mobile QB. Houston is accurate with excellent mechanics, and a plus runner.
I was thinking Longstreet is closer to 6' and Houston 5'10.5". But I see that Longstreet is listed at 6'1" everywhere.

I'm a nut job following LSU QB recruits and the amount of hype over a 5'10 QB has been outlandish.
He seems to be an amazing young man, great family roots, awesome teammate...BUT, it don't equate to starting for a National Championship contender.
It has to be all the Yankees living in NE Louisiana...has to be...
Longstreet is a special special QB....after Sam, we are set for 2 years in 2027 -2028.

Imagine if Stetson Bennett was 6' tall. 12 natties guaranteed. As it is, he went back to back. BTW, he's 5'11".

When did LSU join the NFL?

Houston and Lane will be a lethal combo. And he REALLY wants to be a Tiger. Cant wait to see him in the P&G
