You realize this is only Kelly's first full recruiting cycle here, right?

To be honest they are using Collectives. Just throwing money at alot of these players. I wouldn't be surprised in future if collectives get ran off. I don't believe any coach has issu3 with NIL it's the collectives that most people have issues. Whoever has the biggest donors with the biggest pockets passing out money to players that haven't proven anything without Name, Image, or Likeness being used.

It will take time for recruiting to level off with NIL, but LSU will certainly be at a disadvantage to some of the big booster schools. That being said, BK has been a master of the portal to mitigate the disparity. Don't forget LSU had a total of 40 HS and transfer players added in 2023.

The thought that transfers are not a solution is not entirely accurate. LSU won a natty with transfers Burrow in FB and Skenes and White in baseball. Heisman winners Caleb Williams, Burrow, Mayfield, Murray were all transfers. Use them to win NOW and build a foundation to win in the future with recruits as LSU moves back to the top of the football world. Trust the process as BK aligns the program.

It’ll be the way it’s been for 20 years. We’ll make a run at a title once every 3-5 years. The rest of the time we’ll have 9-3/8-4 type seasons. Which isn’t bad by no means, but folks thinking CBK’s going to win 3 titles in 10 years are a tad too optimistic. He inherited a clusterf#ck and he’s turned it around about as quick as it can be done.

Also, Can’t blame the coaching staff for getting beat in recruiting by programs that are willing to spend more. Unless CBK’s going to pay straight out of his bank account, he can only do so much.

No really?

We should still be able to get top talent to LSU.
First recruiting cycle or not

We don't have a top 100 player currently committed.

OGtigerfan87 & BayouCowboy, I agree the portal can work and often does.

But CBK has stated at least twice that he intends to build via HS players and development. If he truly believes this, he's not really "playing that hand" very well..

That is simply not true.

Clemson
South Carolina
Notre Dame
Michigan
FSU
Florida
Tennessee
Oklahoma

LSU can't outbid those schools for players?

Because those schools have currently more high rated recruits for 24 than LSU.

I didn't even mention

UGA
Bama
USC
Texas
A&M
Oregon
Ohio State

Can all compete money wise and also have more high ranked players than LSU.
So don't just it's about money because some of those schools we can outbid we just aren't going after alot of high end players.

LSU recruiting is not staying at the level of Ohio State, UGA, Bama, or even a few others that will remain unnamed (you all can provide the names).

What amazes me is that LSU is willing to spend the big money on these big time Womens basketball and baseball transfers but wants to pinch pennies on players in by far the biggest sport of all 3. I don’t get it.

It's all about the money. Did anyone see the car the qb for Ohio State is driving. A Mercedes with his own parking place. It's about the money!

LSU would be a lot better off if people like you and LSUFanva were fans of any of these other programs you are so seemingly jealous of.

Go back to the rant where logic and cognition aren't pre-requisites. Recruiting has quite a bit more subtlety subterfuge that people of your limited intelligence are able to understand.

The same people crying that the sky is falling are the same people that were doing it at this same point in time last year.

The vocal minority, the confederacy of dunces that you are put out all this negative energy long before signing day, then disappear when their prognostications of the demise of LSU are proven to be the drivel that many of us realize they are presently.

Some of these guys on this board make it seem like it's all money and some of that may be true.
Some of the high end players we just aren't going after.

Their excuse is well Louisiana talent is down this year.
That's why you go out of state to get great players.

I disagree I think y’all are missing the big picture. We seem to be putting more eggs in the transfer portal basket then going all out for high school recruiting. We aren’t the only school trending this way. There have been signs nation wide that this strategy might be the way to go in todays world or is at least a viable option. At the very least you have to combine the transfer classes with the prep class when looking at roster talent. I’ll take the 6th-10th rated prep class with the 1st or 2nd ranked portal class over a top 3 prep class but little from the portal. Loading up on top 5 classes every year won’t be what it was 5 years ago. Kids aren’t staying and sitting in the world of free transfers and NIL. I believe y’all’s thinking is outdated and I believe Kelly’s first year showed that and his 2nd will cement it

This is the most insightful post on this board. Fans getting in a frenzy because of high school recruiting are not seeing the big picture. The portal and NIL are on their way to making high school recruiting rankings meaningless. You can have a top 5 class only to lose many players before they have an impact.

None of those are recruiting at the level of LSU.

Only Georgia, Bama (which is about to fall) and Ohio State consistently out recruit LSU. A&M could have a team loaded with nothing but 5 stars and would only win 8 games at best. Oregon is and will always be a joke. Texas is the exact same shithole that A&M is (and it has nothing to do with who the coach is. Saban I’m his prime couldn’t win at either of those schools because their problem is the big money morons fancy themselves as football coaches and have entirely too much say in game day decisions). Michigan is a joke. USC hired a dipshit as a head coach that wouldn’t know a good defense if it ran up and kicked him in his overpaid balls. And if you think Chokelahoma will ever be as good as LSU you need to just delete your account now and never speak of LSU sports again.
