I don’t think that’s the best use of the scholarship. We have depth back there now. There’s going to be a litany of 4 and 5* talent in the portal looking for a new home.

Have to agree with that too. was curious on the board’s thoughts because I know a few here were high on him last year.

He would have started last year.

The problem is that, even if he were to come in and start at safety this year, he’d be pretty likely to get jumped on the depth chart next year, given that we have sage and derrick Davis. If I had to guess, I’d guess he’ll be following Derek mason to auburn

Donovan Kaufman is a very good player. Not sure we take a 5ft 9in safety.

We have the #1 and #2 safeties in the country coming in addition to Jay Ward taking over a spot and veterans like Todd Harris and Cam Lewis. We also have Flott and McGlothern to get on the field somehow as well.

Another reliable offensive playmaker besides Boutte is my biggest concern. No one else stuck out as that guy at the end of last season or in the spring.

You can’t be a LSU fan... just get out with that comment and before you make a smart remark...we played him at nickel but he’s a safety and one of the best in the NFL.

Should’ve just used a spot on him last year instead of saving it for the portal and signing Darren Evans. I think what the staff is wanting to do is hold the last scholarship for now and strike at the first can’t miss player at position of need that hops in the portal and one would think Safety is one. With the one time transfer rule one is bound to at some point throughout this summer. I’d be happy if they just took Kaufman though he’s a baller and has 4 years of eligibility remaining.

I wouldn't use it on him

The secondary is pretty locked up except for nickel
Hopefully sage comes in and takes the nickel spot over

He's a playmaker and would've gotten reps as a true freshman. He's also a very smart kid and a hard worker. Would be a great addition.

We don't have the depth back there that you think.

He's got 4 years left of eligibility.

I would badger the coaches to take him. Would be a honey of a deal.

Kaufman balled out against us last year. If Ward and Toles are legit then I say we pass because we have Davis and Ryan coming in soon. Harris and Lewis have been dissappointments so lets hope the two incoming freshman are legit and we don't regret not taking Kaufman.
