I believe they finally realized that they had to give programs relief from the transfer portal. New coaches are coming into jobs with extremely depleted rosters and causing a bad roster imbalance.

As to a specific team having an advantage that wont happen if everybody else gets to do it too...

What it probably means is the 4 yr scholarship is gone. Guys not producing well at 3rd, 4th, or 5th yr will get processed.

It won't kill off seniors as a whole, but there will be a number of schools that take advantage of it, and LSU is among them.

The bottom of that 85, say this season, may be asked to move on to make way for a 2023 player, but I guess it's always been that way.. Roster management has to be a difficult thing these days.
