Next year the state of Florida will be loaded like LA is this year. Hopefully our FL ties continue to pay off and maybe Toliver can be in everyone's ear.

Atl has more people than the entire state of louisiana. Sure there is talent in LA, but you cant fill a whole team that can compete for sec titles with LA talent alone.

Per capita is the key word. LA will never be as loaded as GA, TX, FL, CA.

And in some years LA is down and other states like MS and AL might be up.

Sure this year we have some talent, but i bet every year FL has more d1 players than LA. The population doesnt lie. While we may have a few really high ranked players, they just have way more prospects. We have a commitment from a 3* player from florida that isnt even in the top 247. But the coaches view him highly with all the other dbs on the board.

I call BS on Richt can recruit with the best of them. He has high rankings every year, but Georgia is almost right there with Florida and Texas for producing NFL players and Richt loses half of them every year. Every program in the SEC (including LSU) grabs one or two from him most years. If Richt owned Georgia the way LSU owns Louisiana (and we do, only lose one or two from the state each year, not the 6-8 Richt loses) then UGA would be in the national championship hunt every yea

Living inside Georgia, I would have to agree with this post. This frustrates the locals as they are tired of the nice guy persona, highly touted recruiting classes, but little year in year out championship contention.

When I think about Georgia I imagine Atlanta being the cultural urban environment and everything else being that old Southern backwoods area. I wonder how much kids just want to get the hell out of the state of Georgia altogether?

I agree with this. It's part of their problem. It also doesn't help that Atlanta has become so damn big in the last 20 years. people from everywhere are moving there with no roots to UGA

I think what most LSU fans, especially those of you that have always lived in La miss is how unique of a situation LSU has. La is a relatively small state, most of the population are La natives, unlike Ga, Fl, Tx, La has not had a large influx of people from other states. Not only does it not have another FBS program in state, none of the border states have schools that are closer to parts of La, than LSU. For example, Auburn is only 30 mi from the Ga state like, So Ga is closer to FSU and UF, parts of No Tex are closer to Norman than Austin.

Georgia is too big for one school to lock down. Atlanta has a ton of talent, but also a lot of new residents, so they are not Ga natives that grew up fans. Also several schools, Auburn, Clemson, Florida and FSU are close to the Ga border. UGA does recruit well in Fla as well as the Carolinas. I do think ifa coach could keep more of the elite talent in state, UGA could be a powerhouse and just a really good team as they have been under Richt.

Louisiana is the first and only state to ever have a banner year in recruiting.

I have noticed this. Richt seems to be very likeable and tries to come across as a man of great character.

Do you think he is not a good talent evaluator, not a good motivator, not a good Xs and Os coach, not a good recruiter, or just what that prevents Richt from contending for the SEC East every year, given the quantity of highly ranked GA players most years.

UGA out recruits LSU on a yearly basis. Richt is a good coach, but hes no les miles.

Louisiana has more d1 programs than Georgia. North LA is just as close to ole miss and bama as it is to br. We akso have arjansas, ou and all the texas schools trying to raid us.

usc, osu, nd, penn state, fsu, uf, miami have all tried to recruit louisiana. and has done it with success. we lock down the state because weve been lucky to have back to back coaches that recruiy and sell the program like no other. this wasnt akways the case.

That is partially offset by the fact that there are three big D-1 programs in the state, in addition to several others that are mid-majors. Also, just about every school in the east and midwest offers a lot of FL prospects. We don't have to compete with any othe major D-1 schools (read it and weep La Tech and USL).

Arkansas is a pretender and will have a good team every decade or so. The BCS team was loaded with a very special instate recruiting class (Wright, Adams, Williams, Mallet (Texarkana) that the state may never see again. Arkansas is a mediocre .500 SEC team. LSU is a top 5 national job with no in state competition. It seems like every high school in South LA has a 6'2" 295 lb DT that can run. What separates Louisiana recruits from other states, in my humble opinion, is the states ability to produce SEC D lineman.
