Again in the end, the more players who show interest in coming to LSU, the more LSU has the upper hand. But you have to find and offer those players.

When are airline tickets the cheapest? When the plane is empty. Passenger has the upper hand - you can wait for an even better price because the seats will still be there.

When are they the most expensive? When there are 2 or 3 seats left. One, they cost a fortune and two, you're going to spend it because you NEED to be on that plane. Airline OWNS you.

Do people not understand this? Not heavily recruiting OOS because LA is loaded with talent only works when the ALL come to LSU.

I really don't blame these kids for doing this - they're in a position to get everything they are looking for. We on the other hand, are not. Recruit nationally and forget about The Fence.

I agree. LSU should advise all Louisiana HS coaches and players there is a new policy in effect. LSU will offer in state players on their board the opportunity to get on board. But with the caveat that LSU can no longer refuse or explore interest in equal or better OOS players while waiting on in staters' decision and enjoyment of the process. That LSU prefers Louisiana players, however if an equal or better player beats them to the commitment by a reasonable date, the scholly offer and their spot is gone. It's just business.

No. That hurts LSU.

LSU needs to play the game and look out for its best interests. The likely change to be made is to offer more kids early...and accept commitments from more than you will keep.

Then, as the recruiting picture clears up, accept the fact that some will be left with a less than firm offer at the end. It's ugly and dirty, but it's what recruiting has become.

DG will be at LSU. If you were 18 and could get a free trip to California and Miami and be treated like royalty wouldn't you want to go? With all the help LSU has given him through the recovery process he isn't going anywhere.

With all the help we've given his sister to get qualified, Tony Brown is definitely coming to LSU.

Wrong. We want information, not drama.

The consumer demand is for accurate and up to date information about where the kids are headed. If it were truly "all supply and demand", then these recruits would be interested in putting out accurate information, but instead they do just the opposite.

They create the drama, not us.

How else can we explain not having any DT commits a year after sending 3 D Lineman to the NFL and 2 starters leaving this year?

Simple:

1. Putting D Linemen into the NFL is meaningless because that is a property of the recruit, not the team. Example: Robert Nkemdiche of Ole Miss will be in the NFL; it didn't matter where he went to school. Same is true of Brockers, Logan, etc.
2. Two starters leaving ths year has nothing to do with it. DT's don't play much as freshmen unless they're extraordinary (e.g. Nkemdiche)
3. LSU recruiting eight Dlinemen last year has LOTS to do with it!

Lately I have wondered about this and why LSU does not recruit much OOS, especially the West coast.

Look, kids who come to visit from Louisiana to-let's say UCLA can easily be intoxicated with the glitz/glamour ect.. of SOCAL..Can make it easier for a place like UCLA to begin to siphon off players from traditional SEC talent pools.

On the same token, LSU could easily sell Louisiana to kids from the north and eastern edge of the San Joaquin Valley, the area north of San Francisco, Sacramento, southern Oregon, Idaho and Nevada. Granted, you're not going to get a lot of skilled position players but you will get the wide bodies on offense and defense....The same kids that are now playing on the line for Stanford, UCLA, Arizona, Oregon and schools in the Big-10(11-12-13) and Big-12. So many of these kids are big time into hunting and fishing (I coach in the northern part of California and have exposure to kids playing for me and against us that love the outdoors.)and there are very few places on earth that can give Louisiana competition when it comes to being a sportsman. The majority of the kids from NOCAL have a completely different mind-set from the kids in SOCAL.

And once you expose these kids to a game at LSU, they will be sold (Nothing like it exists out here except recently Oregon). And yes, believe it or not, there of some of these kids who can play in the SEC. There are more and more players who played in the Junior Colleges located in NOCAL now playing in the SEC....There are almost 40 million people living in California, I'm sure LSU can find 5 of them who can play almost any position on the football field to come to Baton Rouge.

I know, but since Brown never gave our staff his commitment it's a poor comparison to DG (if reports are true).

I wonder if DG could do this with the staff's knowledge so he could go on the trip with his friends.

Actually Brown committed to the staff two weeks before the UA game, and reaffirmed his commitment twice. The day before the game and the day of the game. According to 24/7

And there it is. There is NO "accurate and up to date information about where the kids are headed" so we give credence to what other people make up - hence the drama.

these recruits would be interested in putting out accurate information

We're not talking about objective scientific evidence here, we're talking about where KIDS are THINKING of going to school. They don't know themselves most of the time, so how are we supposed to find that information out if it doesn't even exist? We pay people (recruiting services) to constantly pester these kids asking where they are 'leaning' and such. The kids don't know, but respond to all the ridiculous attention by throwing more ridiculousness back out. And 'we' gobble up every nuance in order to try to divine the ultimate destinations of kids who don't know themselves - or maybe don't want to say for personal reasons, yet still get bombarded by the questions and attention.

They create the drama, not us.

There would be no drama if no one paid any attention. How can you not understand that?

What if they gave a party and nobody came?

So he lied in an attempt to get special treatment for his sister?

His commitment wasn't publicly reported, so was unofficial I guess. Still, if 24/7 is correct then he did commit to our staff and therefor I must retract my previous statement.

In fact, if true, what TB did would be far worse than what DG may have done.

Im a total positiger and even those messages don't look great to me. Kenny Young has been fairly vocal that he wants to play OOS. I thought Davon was solid. I hope he is a Tiger on NSD, but Im not sure if the signs look great.

He apparently also committed to Bama on Monday before the game as well. His sister didn't have any idea until right before the announcement. That's partly why she was so upset. She told the track coaches the night before Tony was coming. His parents however knew well before

Yeah I'm pretty positiger too, but when I saw that a while back I was confused.. Now it kinda makes sense today seeing this news. Davon has always been tiger lock, and his family wants him there too. I don't see him flipping but I guess anything can happen.
