What scenario would it take for Herman to be let go after next year? Would it have to be a total, 6-6 type disaster?

If I'm having to pick a record without any context, I'd say that he's definitely gone with fewer than nine regular season wins. Nine regular season wins is probably a tossup, depending on context, recruiting, and the locker-room.

You have to remember that this upcoming season has been circled for awhile now as the year that Herman has to take the next step to be on schedule, given that Ehlinger is a fourth year starter and the loaded 2018 class will all be juniors, many of whom will be returning starters

Context meaning injuries, the impressiveness of the wins, and how bad the losses are

Additionally, if recruiting is starting to look similar to USC's, or if he's starting to lose the locker room, then those are factors as well, as is if he's carrying a top five class and having the young players tweeting out their support for him

This 2021 in-state class is one of the stronger ones you'll see, up there with the 2017 class, and Texas has a lot of favorable recruitments if things are going well on the field, although the recruiting cycle has moved up and many recruits decide before the season even starts. Thus the offseason could also factor into Herman's fate.

Used to think this was the case as well. I've been told that is false. They will only go to Texas if it is the best fit, and right now they know it is a shitshow.

In other words, after LSU stumps Texas in Baton Rouge in September, they will commit to LSU.

I follow Texas recruiting and football as close as anyone, and I find a lot of valuable information here for when Texas and LSU butt heads in recruiting. I won't ever drop inside information that already isn't in the public domain, but I don't mind sharing when something is already available elsewhere

Also, my wife is a Tiger (this is probably a dead giveaway for Texas posters lurking here), so when I'm hanging out with her friends, I like to be able to add to the conversation, and following the recruiting page on this site helps abundantly there

She also picked Burch to LSU.

Hell, she even picked LSU to beat Clemson in the Championship Game. I have to admire her lack of blatant homerism.
