Burn their gym then and put all the handlers inside!

you should be happy for yalls three years with CV... Findlay isn't going after any other LA kids...
yall might get other elite talent that sees st. aug as a way to Findlay and scholarships

Would there be a possibility that this can be likened to an agent selling his services to another school? If he leaves because he can make himself better is one thing but if the young man is leaving because someone has bankrolled him so to speak then the NCAA should check this out. Very suspicious.

Good luck with that AAU will never get the boom from
NCAA

Probably one third of the Rivals 150 is in a similar situation. This is a complete non-issue.
The thread seems unnecessarily harsh for the most part, although I did get a chuckle out of the 198 hours comment. And the reporter interviewing him kind of sounds like Condon.

why is it harsh?
he was playing at St Augustine, a very prodigious basketball school.
It's not like he was playing at Riverdale High school or a 1A school with no competition or coaching.

He wasn't really shite talking anyone though, really. Findlay plays the hardest schedule of any team in the country besides maybe Oak Hill and Montverde. It gives a great taste of what college can be like, with the constant travel, target on your back, playing against fellow top 10 teams, etc.
Montverde is probably the best for that since it's a real school, with a student body that resembles a college though.
If I was in his shoes, I'd probably stay at St. Aug's because 99% of the offers he would get would come regardless of where he plays out his senior year. But I can see the appeal of the elite schools, as well as the boarding schools in New England that are getting a lot of talent these days as well.

You can't blame a kid for chasing his dream. He wants to be challenged and play against the top competition. That is an honorable stance and something that is an example of high character.
To be fair though, that interview with him sitting there with his headphones on giving insight into his decision making process as he chose his prep school (so insignificant in reality) screams of a bit of a prima Donna attitude. It is pretty clear that the kid has taken to all of the attention. For that reason, this decision may not have been in his best interests. Being grounded is a huge lesson in life and one that he better learn soon. I know he comes from a quality family so hopefully it is just an indication of his age and he matures.
I wish the kid the best.

I just see it as being hypocritical if a select school fanbase complains about this but they'll happily take the talented kids from the Clarks and Cohens of the world.

What about his st aug teammates?
What about loyalty to them???
Finishing what you start?
High character my arse. It's a "me" decision in a sport that is all about team.
He couldn't chase his dream at Aug?? Lol. Like they haven't put players into elite CBB schools and into the NBA? The best basketball school in LA basketball history arguably

Damn.. hopefully we remain a finalist for his services. Getting our name out there (Findlay) can only be beneficial.

Yea u can say the same about nonselects as well. That argument is pointless and it's not the same.

I remember about 10 years ago.. A hoops coach I know in Nola saying AAU ball or it's offshoot.. will devour elite HS hoops....
Posted on 7/1/13 at 8:53 am to choupiquesushi
He was right. HS basketball coaches are getting screwed.
