Does anyone religiously follow recruiting like back in the days?
When I saw that recent player decommit I just Lol’d.
It gets fun when they sign the dotted line and get on campus.
In the coaches we trust to build a top recruiting class…. Cheers

I dont. I'll check in ever now and then but it's a whole different ballgame now a days. BU was the nail in the coffin for me

I don't follow nearly as much, but this recent recommit has nothing to do with it. I never felt like he would come here, the whole commitment came from basically put of nowhere. It's pretty obvious that he used that LSU commitment to get Ole Miss to pony up. The surprising thing is gonna be when he decommits from Ole Miss and commits somewhere else, or he doesn't have the season he should next year and gets processed.

The portal is WAY more fun

If they aren't in the top 75 or top 10 recruit at their position, I don't even pay much attention anymore.
Rosters will be a revolving door with the portal unless you're an elite recruit that can get on the field immediately.

Nope. But I will say I greatly appreciate those on the board that still follow it and can give us cliff notes. I can scan it quickly and am not totally consumed with following.

I still follow but it isn't the same as the past. Now I just want to make sure we lock down in-state guys. If we can lock down the state and pull even just 5 OOS guys, we can just supplement the rest with the portal. We almost have to do that. If you aren't using the portal to the max, I think you get left behind.

You check in every now and then but miraculously responded in 6 minutes from the op’s post.

No excitement in high school recruiting
NIL > Commitment
Unlimited Transfers w/o consequences
College Football isn’t nearly as fun as it use to be.

It's "Show me the money!" attitude in the NIL era. You have better success doing the same in the transfer portal.

I subscribed to pansies for years, Rivals, 247, and ON3 but now with NIL it's pointless to follow recruiting. It's doesn't matter anymore if you have a guy committed for 12 months bc it's all about who is going to offer them the biggest contract on signing day. it's not recruiting anymore it's negotiations. It used to be something fun to follow year round but now information and updates about recruits and their top schools is meaningless.

These days... I'd love a HC to tell these kids, "look, don't even think committing unless you plan on BEING COMMITTED".
But unfortunately this place and the CFB media heads would hang a HC out to dry for treating a kid disrespectfully.

Ronk,
You're already my favorite poster on the Home & Garden board. Keep spittin' gems like this and you'll be my second favorite poster (Cap Crown holds down the top spot) on the Recruiting board.

Nice to watch some players still such as Manchild who was underrated and never flinched. That's why many of us still watch.
It's the hope that a kid who can ball and didn't have all the national hype will commit and then show everyone what they are made of while going wire to wire.
If the kid is not from Louisiana, I'm less likely to follow their recruitment until signing day. Until NIL changes are made, there's no point in following every single kid like we did in the past.

Yep. You can’t hurt their feelings even though it’s worse than professional football right now with the complete absence of guardrails.
Respek my post. #Godsplan
