Awesome for Corey. Great guy, he deserves it. Deion really knows what he's doing.

He's hired 4 SWAC coaches already.

He read it wrong. He thought they were SWAG coaches.

These guys were head coaches at college programs. Regardless of the conference, they’re not going to name anyone a head coach without some sort of experience. They’re not exactly rolling into Boulder to be his OC/DC.

He’s also possibly bringing in a solid ex NFL head coach, a MAC head coach, a National Championship winning DC, a 3 time college HC (failed but he got 3 power 5 jobs. He’s fine when he’s not at the head of the table).

But let’s focus on the two to fit your Sanders narrative that you’ve had since he was hired.

Deion is a fad that is soon going to fade when people realize that he can’t coach for shite.

I don’t understand the Deion fanboys. Every coach is criticized on this board, and others, and it’s fine.

That’s what message boards are for.

This coach sucks, that coach is a horrible recruiter, this coach is a horrible play caller, this coach needs to fired etc.

But any criticism of Deion and people come out of the woodwork crying foul.

Why are you so personally invested in his success, such that you feel the need to defend him.

I have posted valid criticism. He is hiring 4, and perhaps 6, coaches from the SWAC. If any other P5 coach did that, he would be ridiculed.

The Kent State coach is a good OC. That’s a good hire.

Also, Zimmer doesn’t appear to be going to Colorado.

Because most people just like the shiny bright new thing and never actually look at the substance behind it.

Yeah what he did at JSU was awesome Not gonna try to take that away from him. But winning at JSU and winning in the big leagues is totally different

Most power 5 teams spend 50 times the budget of JSUs entire athletic program on football alone.

Message board should ideally be for actual solid insight or well thought out topics/opinions. Having 70 topics of “JD SUCKS” or “WHAT IS KELLY DOING” are counterproductive. You’re asking why others are invested in his journey but you’re also posting here about it. Your opinion is that it is valid criticism, however you haven’t a clue of the football acumen of a Deion Sanders and others in his camp that I’m sure are more suited to make those choices. Not sure as to why hiring coaches from the SWAC is an issue as well if he sees fit. Clearly he’s taking a solid piece from LSU, he’s methodically taking folk and has done his research from the top, down. If he fails, he fails, if he succeeds, then more power to the dude. Either way, I’m sure he has fanboys, haters, and just folk like myself, who are just logical and see it for what it is.

OK bro. The next time I make a post criticizing Eli Drinkwitz's assistant coaching hires at Missouri, I expect you to come blazing in here defending him.

There have been HUNDREDS of posts criticizing Billy Napier of bring too many Sun Belt assistants with him to Florida.

He is regularly called Sun Belt Billy. How many posts have you made defending the Sun Belt and arguing that that is perfectly acceptable?

Fan Boys, lol.

Well there is context. If Napier felt the need to bring some over, then that’s on him. I didn’t criticize Napier over that. Not defending anyone, just being logical. We are generally fans on a messaging board. You have no more insight on what works than a successful coach. It has worked for Deion so far, he’s making moves and in which I’m sure he has established football minds consulting him also. Not every power player starts off at a power 5. Look where Brian Kelly started. Sounds personal on your end. Any which way, good luck to Phillips.

It's sports. There's nothing personal about it.

I don't care if Deion succeeds or fails. I just think all the white-knighting is funny (and sad)

You have a point. It is comical. Saban, Kelly, etc. hires get criticized but people getting worked up and freaking out bc it is pointed out that half the staff is from the SWAC and the other half are unemployed. I personally can’t wait to see how it unfolds but they have to improve from 1-11 huh? My money is that it fails or he jumps ship by the end of year 2.
