Clemson, Clemson, Clemson...

Fellas. Let's all stop worrying about Clemson. Although I agree DEEPLY that something highly fishy is going on over there, we all just need to accept that there's nothing we can do about it.
Coach O is gonna find the guys that want to play against tough competition on a weekly basis, for a team that is a historically great program, with double the amount of national championships as Clemson (if you count our 1908 and 1936 titles, as we should). In fact, Clemson has the same amount of titles in their entire 124 year history as LSU has had in the past 16 years. LSU is 3-1 all-time vs. Clemson, and Clemson won that game by ONE point. LSU beat them in a NATTY by 17, and it realistically should've been by 30+. If you want to see more about how LSU is superior to Clemson in almost every conceivable way, click this LINK
I really don't see where this "LSU will go back to mediocrity", "LSU won't be relevant next year", "have fun going back to 7-5 seasons" talk is coming from and the reasoning. The big concern surrounding LSU is what, the quarterback and the defense? Correct me if I'm wrong here, but was there ever this big of a concern about the quarterback when Zach Mett and Danny Et both first started? No. People outside of LSU didn't bat an eye.
So what does that mean? That means LSU has now raised its standard so high, that the outside world now believes that LSU SHOULD be a good team, but won't because we lost both Joe B's. Personally, I'd take that as a compliment. They're saying that anything short of a title, playoff run, or NY6 bid for LSU in 2020 is a failure right? I couldn't be happier. LSU hasn't had a losing record in 20 years, and in that 20 years, LSU hasn't had less than 8 wins per year. So we upgrade the offense drastically, bring in a bunch of great recruits, and then we start sucking? Makes sense.
We will be fine. LSU will always do more with a 3-Star development-wise than a Clemson coach can do with a 5-Star. They beat their chests about producing draft picks, like the players didn't come in as 5-stars or high 4-stars already... Meanwhile we turn kids who were doubted into players that are feared in the league. Let the idiots have their day in the sun. LSU is resilient, and I'm never betting against the real Tigers of Death Valley.

I'm with ya but this is off base. For nearly a decade, people said "if only LSU had a decent QB."
Prior to Burrow, the best we ever had was Mettenberger, a statue who couldn't last 3 years in the NFL. Before that, ya gotta go back to JaMarcus. That's nearly a generation ago.

Coach O is a great recruiter, great Louisianian, ambassador for LSU, and a lot of things, and he’s certainly learned from his past. The man knows to not get in his own way and let his coaches coach. His tenure as the LSU HC has proved that time and again. He recognized deficiencies and brought in guys who could fix them. Culmination of all this is the season we just witnessed.
So, I agree with what you’re saying for the most part except for claiming 1936. If they win the Sugar Bowl, then I think you have an argument for an undefeated team (they would’ve been 10-0-1) as champs. The 1908 team is recognized by the NCAA as a national champ; we should claim that one for sure!

Dog there’s 0 chance I’m reading all that

Nice post, except the last paragraph.
Clemson has done a fantastic job of developing lesser known recruits into outstanding college team players. They haven’t had a ton of 5 stars in most of their classes.
Give them credit for developing championship teams.
To me, the real test is taking this class full of studs and getting them to be unselfish and play to the role needed for the team to be successful. Can Dabo do that? It’s a tough task.
But, it doesn’t really matter to us. We will only play them in the playoffs, if we play them at all. And, we won’t fight them in recruiting except for the occasional player.

we were retroactively awarded a natty for the 1936 season by multiple entities. I'm taking that all day, every day.

All I want is for LSU to start recruiting QBs like Clemson.
That's all it takes. This year proved that.
We recruit so well everywhere else that if we were bringing in QBs like Lawrence and DJ every few years we would have nothing to worry about.

Mike's habitat was not built to keep him inside... It was to keep coach O out. He wants to head butt that fricking tiger I can see it in his eyes.
We are in great hands.
We are in great hands.

Who’s worrying about Clemson? Clemson better be worrying about LSU.

Yup. That’s true. However, the NCAA doesn’t recognize it. Minnesota is the 1936 champ.

Yet you have no idea how Johnson or Finley will pan out. DJ looked like hot garbage in the all-star game. Quarterback is the the hardest position to predict from one level to the next.
Also; you can’t really say LSU isn’t bringing in qbs like Trevor; who just lost to the one they brought in. We ran a terrible offensive scheme for a decade and that hindered that positions recruiting. I trust that will change.

Bowl games didn’t have anything to do with who was the national champion back then. They were just exhibition games. And the field was a sloppy mess.

Korey Foreman didn't go there because of a 5-star QB. He went there for Brent Venables.
