LSU didn't pull the offer, but Ole Miss was apparently willing to pay WR1 type $ for Whitley, and LSU currently is not. He's not WR1 material IMO. So they overpaid to get a solid WR that also gives them an optics win.

The #28 (247) or #30(ON3) WR (208/205 overall) in the country, #2 (3rd if you count TEs) WR (8/7 overall) in Louisiana for 2027

We like our chances with a bigger fish. Midwest kid, long way to go. Returns have been strong but he's still got the new car smell in terms of relationships. Those do matter when money is close. But bang for buck, a better "investment" than what Whitley would cost. OSU backed off Whitley for that reason. Too far apart in money.

I think it's a dig at LSU for letting Frank Wilson go to Ole Piss. WR Miguel Whitley is from St. Augustine HS that produced The Honey Badger and LF7. Whitney is right behind Royal and don't fool yourselves Lane wanted him bad, but this is the Frank Wilson affect. I know y'all hated to admit it, but that don't change the fact that Frank is one hell of a recruiter.

Kiffin set his sights on a bigger prize, now Ole Miss and Frank Wilson get to claim a win. If things don't pan out and Kiffin decides he really wants to make this kid his #1 priority, then he will go get him. And there is nothing OM or Frank will be able to do about it.
