Part of what made 2019 offense impossible to defend was the breadth of the weapons. 5+ options were dangerous and could hurt them badly, 2+ We’re lethal and could take over a game. Probably 3+

Opposing teams may have a star CB they can put on our #1 (which didn’t work in 2019) or they may double team someone, but they can’t account for everyone. Particularly once they start getting to their second and third CB on a dangerous WR, safety on our TE, and linebacker on our rb...

In the post Chase, Marshall era we will have:
Boutte, Adams, Gilbert, Moore and now Bradford
Add to that Palmer, Lee and our young RBs.

Boutte, Adams, Bradford, Palmer, Lee and Emery can take one the distance on ANY given play.
Gilbert is a walking mismatch as a possession target. Moore a great possession target as well.

Looks like the staff is creating pick your poison part 2 . If this crop materializes, we are going to be extremely difficult to defend.

Myles Brennan graduating this May gives him all summer to just study football and work on chemistry with all these weapons. I can't wait to see how this goes.

I've been arguing this with my brother...I think there is a not-insignificant chance that our WR/pass-catchers are actually better this year than they were last year. Chase/Marshall is as good of a 1-2 as there is in the country, then you gotta figure there's a damn good shot of at least one of Lee/Palmer/McMath/Boutte having a breakout season, then you add in Gilbert, who is probably a better receiving threat than Moss from day 1 (likely not better overall, but purely as a receiver). Then add in our RBs, who, although they probably wont be as good as CEH from an all-around perspective, give us a more dynamic threat than last year.

Basically, it's gonna come down to Brennan and the O-Line.

Imo, as long as we keep the same playbook and keep running the same offense, I think we've gotta be the favorite for best offense in the SEC.

Jaray Jenkins may also pop up at some point. If Deion Smith keeps his commitment, he'll be a starter here at some point I believe. Explosiveness at skill positions won't be an issue at LSU for a long time

ETA: And if we get Caleb Williams, those explosive skill players will continue performing at a high level. God it's nice to have an offense that allows talent to show on the field.

ETA2: Chris Hilton from Zachary is another 2021 guy we'll likely get ahold of - extremely explosive. The list goes on with dynamic 2021 guys that are going to end up being Tigers.

Wow. That’s a lot.

-If we incorporate additional plays like jet sweeps with boutte (he fast)
-if we have two tE sets and either does that TE shovel pass behind the center
-and keep passing to running back (this is a new reality in football)

That’d be great.

We didn’t need these plays last year but I assume the playbook opens up some since Brennan is a junior and can add more to the repertoire.

Not just Boutte Adams as well. I think he runs 4.3 as well. We will have a TON of speed at WR this season. Boutte,Adams, and Bradford out backfield with the big arm that Brennan has will be a sight to see.

Wow...I did not know this. This is huge.

Being enrolled with only 3 hours as a grad student during the fall is massive at the QB position. Brennan will be able to spend the same amount of time in the film room as Burrow did.

If this is the trajectory for QB position at LSU I'm liking it. Older and smarter by experience at the QB position is a big advantage in college football.

We need an elite QB in the 2021 class.

Brennan will be very good in 2020 and he will be awesome in 2021.

Then we have three guys on the 2020 / 2021 roster who will have two years (three in the case of Parrish) to prove themselves and develop under Brennan.

But we need a surefire prospect in the 2021 class who can be the guy in 2022 if the existing guys don't pan out.

after analyzing the 2021 QB class, Caleb Williams and Garrett Nussmeier should be the only guys we go after HARD. Caleb should be first choice due to his insane playmaking ability and football IQ, and Garrett is a solid second choice. I could see the potential for signing both, but I think we'll end up with at least one of those two guys

I felt the offense felt like when Kiffen was at Alabama, just no idea where the ball was going to go. The difference was that most of the options were behind the line of scrimmage in their scheme. We were able to spread those options all over the field.

i agree 100%

Clyde will be missed, but i can see us running it a little more next season, Emory and Price (or Curry) will be a force imo... the middle of our Oline will be bull rushers. we may be 53 run 47 pass next season... Gilbert is a better pass catcher/Athlete than Moss... and moss was awesome/ran tough but couldnt run very well.

I worry most about keeping the same play book with Brady gone.. thats my biggest concern, it certainly isnt the talent..

I think Marshall has the "breakout" season next year... his injury prevented high yardage and it was always about jefferson and chase... Even though we all know MArshall is a stud the national media will know next season... i predict 1200 yds 13-28 TDs for MArshall...

dont know who gets the slot WR spot but who ever it is is going to have a year... I know it will be a combo of guys but I think our best 3 WRS are Chase, MArshall and McMath... MAybe Chase moves to slot idk... Im sure Palmer will get his reps there too..

13-28 TDs gahhhhh damnnnnnnnnn!!! I'll take that lmao

I think that Trey Palmer should be the slot guy this year, he's an absolutely insane deep threat and can easily beat linebackers or nickel guys with his speed. I think Ja'Marr and Terrace stay on the outsides, with Racey backing up Terrace and Jontre Kirklin/Koy Moore backing up Ja'Marr. Kayshon will likely backup Trey Palmer due to his speed as well, and he's a bit too short to be an outside guy, although his high pointing skills are elite.

lol, 13-18 is what i meant, but id take 28...

and i agree with palmer, i think just conventional wisdom says hes the slot guy because of speed and quickness... could also say you need a big body there like marshall, or great hands and physical like chase... who knows... you could make a good case for all three being in the slot...

Chase is like a landry there...
marhsall could do it for sure
palmer would be what Russel shepperd should have been/Percy harvin..

We had 1 who could not be stopped 1 on 1 - Chase. If Clemson had put #8 on Jets or Marshall it would have ebbed and flowed. Putting him on Chase was a giant gamble. I don’t think any college team will ever take that gamble again - and there are not too many pro teams who are going to try it a lot.

Racey mcmath is faster than he looks as well, and if you remember, Palmer can run with some of the best. Bubble screens with be money in the bank.
