serious question, are kids from Mobile going down to Gulf Shores to go to school? That is like saying New Orleans and Denham Springs compete for kids

It’s more that they just did a massive renovation and are investing heavily in the program. The program has grown a lot in the past couple of years and won state last year. I expect it to compete with Saraland as a destination school for local talent eventually. Might as well build some ties now
I think they had a couple players transfer there.

They recruit kids from all over. The use condos in the area. Quite a few kids from Mobile are on team. The RB is from Mobile Christian. They were investigated but school/coaches are too smart to have their hand in cookie jar. Outside people in community handle it all. The won State last year. DC is Brian Van Gordo, Paul Rhoads is on staff and Mitch Rodrigue. They are throwing money around like crazy. Supposedly HC gets $200,000. They want to be a coastal Hoover/Thompson. Orange Beach is coming on too. I hear Mark Freeman from Thompson would be interested in either one bc his wife likes the coast. They both separated from Baldwin County schools and are city schools now. Lots of tax base. Gulf Shores has new $131 million HS coming with an athletic performance center with 100 yard pavilion covered practice field. Big time.

The QB at Spanish Fort ended up at Gulf Shores 2 years ago. The kid quarterbacked Spanish Fort to State Championship game as Sophomore and started 27 games. Who would leave Spanish Fort for Gulf Shores? Now you know.

If he had waited a few minutes he could have spared himself this blunder.

Russell 2003, Jackson 2004, Ferrell 2017, Flott 2019. LSU has not signed a player from Alabama in the last four classes so it shouldn't have come as a surprise that JaMichael Garrett committed to Auburn immediately after leaving the Bayou Splash. In the last 18 years, LSU has signed just two players (Kwon Alexander and Armoni Goodwin) ranked in the Alabama Top Ten. Alabama and Auburn have walked off with 28 Top Ten Louisiana players during that time -- including the likes of Devonta Smith, Cam Robinson, Landon Collins and Eddie Lacy. Brian Kelly has done a good job is slowing the bleeding but has not shown an ability to attract the top players from Alabama. With Saban gone, it would be nice to beat Bama in recruiting, just once!

- Saban just retired
- Saban still works there
- DeBoer hasn’t had a chance to disappoint the fanbase yet
- Anybody else notice how Alabama recruits rankings dropped once Saban retired?

More Bama than Auburn. 1 bc Bama wins an 2 bc Saban was here at one time and knows folks. Not hard to understand.
