Brian Kelly’s high school recruiting is picking up nicely; transfer recruiting is abysmal

Jalen Lee, Duce Chestnut, Denver Harris, etc. have all been major disappointments. It looks like we are going to swing and miss on every DT in the portal this year despite that being a desperate need and the cupboard being totally bare. Florida State gets Keon Coleman, Jared Verse, Braden Fiske, Fentrell Cypress, and we get scrubs.
What needs to change in order for us to be more successful transfer-wise? Is it totally a money problem or a coaching problem?

Is it abysmal or is he not willing to pay absurd amounts for a 1 off?

We just gonna forget he got Jayden Daniels? And he also got Kyren Lacy

You are forgetting getting the best player of the portal era Jayden Daniels.

It’s so weird to get beat out by OU and Miami. What is this the late 1980s?!?

Number 1 Barrow hasnt committed anywhere yet.
Number 2 I think this kinda says something in regards to overall decision making going on here.
Cristobal and Venerables are not the coaches I want my program modeling decisions off of.

People with your line of thinking are so short sided.
“Oh no! We are going to miss on the DT’s. LSU is unwilling to pay. BK is dumb, etc”
Do you ever step back and think that LSU isn’t shelling out money for mediocre DT’s this year because we are saving it for our banner HS class next year?

Better for the team as a whole, but doesn't feel good losing all these big uglies

We also got Brooks, Foucha, Bernard-Converse, Garner, Wingo, Lacy, oh and uh last years Heisman Jayden Daniels.
Its not like a lot of those names you mentioned weren’t recruited by basically everyone and we won the recruitment for. Sometimes it just doesn’t work out.

1.) come on man. That’s a done deal.
2.) I get the decision. I’m saying it feels retro to have those two programs out recruiting us. Generally doesn’t happen for a guy we want. Who’s next the Cornhuskers?

we are going to have 24 hours to pivot and consolidate some funds as it seems like we knew about damonic at latest by this morning. Similar to OU consolidating for damonic. it aint over till he announces.

Or overpay for players who are only marginally better than what we have if at all.

Bro...comparing OU to Nebraska is wild.
Have you been watching NCAA the past 5 years?

exactly, OU easily recruits DFW metro and surrounding areas, they’re nothing to scoff at

What was the name of that kid that won the heisman. I can’t remember if he committed out of high school or was he a transfer.

So we’re just smarter than Texas, OU, Miami, Bama, etc.? I doubt it.
Also, this makes no sense because winning now is always the most important thing for coaches since they know they’re jobs depend on it.
