Bolden wanted to win a national championship, and we wanted a guy who could be backup if Mett got hurt. I dont see the big deal about it. Not counting wouward numbers from what I've heard and glad to let the kid get out of that shithole Penn ST.

So you think a guy coming in 4-5 weeks prior to the start of the season is a better option than two guys who have been in the system a year and have been learning the playbook? If we brought this guy in because the coaches have no confidence in the back ups then we are in trouble if Mett goes down!!

Pretty much...

Unless they take a significant jump in development, we're going to have major problems at QB next year if Mett leaves early.

Plus all the young guys that will likely enter the draft early. We need to win this year.

Here is the other thing that baffles me, many of our competitors in the SEC (Bama, UGA, USCe, Ark) would be in a bind if they lost their starter to an injury. Yet we are the only team going after Bolden, which is a little unsettling.

So it is your position that LSU staff should look to their competitors to make their decisions for them? Mathieu, Clayton, Hester, Logan, etc should never have been brought to LSU because Bama, UGA, USCe, Ark didn't offer?

he was just completely mentally lost and had no confidence whatsoever. He was consistently underthrowing receivers on short routes, throwing into double coverage on deep routes, making awful decisions when he did throw the ball, held onto the ball too long and took way too many unneseccary sacks.

sounds like JJ to me.

Robert is Russell's brother. He's vouching for Russell since Russell is busy with NFL camp and can't respond to inane message board chatter invoked by the poster you quoted.

I can't understand why people have so much trouble with this. Mett is our starter and Bolden would be insurance. Les has learned his lesson after he booted Perriloux, LSU had to turn to a RSFR and a True FR. If there is one thing Les has proven, he has proven that he will correct mistakes. Les isn't trying to have a repeat of 2008.

This guy can play day one no waiting period. Doesn't count as a 2013 pick and not even part of the 85 this year. It's a win win it cost us nothing he works out great, he doesn't work out so well we did not us up a slot to get him. He is plan B, insurance against a Mett injury. Ok if i am wrong enlighten me.

So this guy clearly wants out of Penn State, has for more than a year. He had the ability to win the starting job as a true freshman but fell apart after a concussion. Since then he has had trouble reestablishing himself. Now he wants a new environment and a fresh start.

We can take him immediately without it counting against the scholly limits. He can learn the system and work as a backup. Basically try to clear his head and play a little in the meantime.

Why does anyone have a problem with this?

Exactly. We don't need this guy but having him as a backup isn't a bad thing. If he improves it gives us a decent backup--if he doesn't he sits the bench. Lets let his work ethic and talent see where it takes him before we write him off.
