By my count LSU will have 15 legit OL on the 2025 roster. What a change in depth/philosophy that is. Go get em, coach.

Change in depth. Not a change in philosophy.
Brian Kelly has always put a lot of offensive lineman and tight ends into the NFL. He understands how important those positions are.
He also didn’t have a transfer portal attitude change. He just finally has the NIL money at LSU to build the team he wants and go get guys from the portal aggressively.

I meant "change of philosophy" from the old days when we were scrambling to have enough bodies to practice. It may not have been THE philosophy, but it was our reality.

To me it’s what Texas did a good job or preparing for the SEC those two years before joining. Loaded up each position with multiples.

This one’s real simple. We outbid A&M, he’s ours. If we don’t, we’ll see him once per year.

You can't get outbid for him. You just can't let thst happen.

This kid could go anywhere.

Looks like they're about to haggle over a car, which is basically recruiting now.

quote:Sark owes his current success to Saban, NIL, and Texas money. He's a good coach, and developed that defensive mindset under Saban and especially the mindset of always having a moving wall blocking for you. One of the first things Texas did was start a collective strictly for OL. They were immediately paying ALL OL like 150k a year minimum.

That's an extremely cynical point of view, you being an LSU fan and all. NIL is fairly new but players have been getting paid since the helmets were made of leather, the best ones anyways.
Ever since LSU brought the magic back in trend that began with Kevin Faulk, LSU has done far better job in keeping their best players than any other school from any other state in the country.
There will always be elite kids from Louisiana that were only ever going to attend LSU.
It's the University's responsibility to reward that loyalty with their own and take care of their kids, and that's what this Rev share does.
This recruiting class is going to be the first in which the new Rev share changes go into effect and I'm extremely curious to see what happens to collectives.
However, if it becomes something where you're gonna make about the same amount of money, no matter what school you go to, then that's even more advantageous for LSU and the talent in Louisiana.
Not to go off on any more of a tangent, but I really hope what rec share accomplishes a minimum and maximum pay sliding scale based off of position, for each year you attend any school.
For example, the absolute max pay would be for like a 5th year starting QB with at least 1 years experience starting.
The minimum pay would be for like a true frosh punter or whatever. Just some type of order in all the chaos and pay for play that we have now.
I just feel like the freedom these collectives have enjoyed are not going to be just given up freely. It'd created a new economy and given new roles and positions for a lot of people, none of whom are going to want to see this part of the college game removed.
Well, tangent over.

USC has a pretty good shot with him. Trovon Reed on staff doesn’t hurt.

You mean the guy that left LA to go to AU and become an afterthought? Great message to send. Stewart is gonna wish he never heard of USC In a Few years.

I hear he his also very good on the defensive side of the ball as well.

Yep, Travon Reed was briefly a 5* and then fell rapidly to a low 4. He ended up being a nobody at Auburn. Hated to see it.
