sometimes quitters win

There's a big difference between a guy that plays QB where he's either the starter or a backup that only sees mop up duty and a defensive back that is part of a 5 or 6 man rotation every game with an opportunity to prove he belongs in the starting line up.

you're saying frick him because he wanted to go somewhere and actually play... the only reason he played against ucf is because we had noone else...he entered the portal to go somewhere and play...keep reliving your middle school days

We should be glad to rid our team of guys who just can't take bring part of a team w/a a 5-5 season. Gilbert left rather than being suspended . These ignorant kids see a national championship team, want to jump on the bandwagon , commit to play , and then when we're not 7-0 they want to leave for greener grass. And that my friends , explains what's in a quitters heart. The off he goes to Florida with immediate eligibility .Gilbert made it a half season, & quit. Period . And that's what's wrong w/college football. frick him.

I would agree with this if they treated coaches the same way. Have to sit out a year without pay if they leave a school for another school. As long as coaches can look for the bigger better deal, the players should be allowed to as well.

Well, that would be illegal.

Regardless, coaches have contracts, usually with buyouts. So, they have their own barriers.

But the NCAA can't regulate job market.

If you graduate and transfer before a season starts, you did not quit.

sounds like Netherly had opportunities, but he didn't want to play DB. i agree with this article that changes to the portal are needed. the NCAA kind of opened pandora's box with the 1x transfer rule.

it's a shame that a number of schools will have available scholarships and so many kids won't be able to play. NCAA should consider a 1x... sign up to 85 (over the 25 man limit) and let that be 1x and then get rid of the 1x transfer rule all together.

applying a 1x rule for kids and colleges in relationship to last 12 months is reasonable, but shouldn't be the go-forward standard imo.

these are football scholarships, not academic scholarships

that argument makes no sense and is just a way to try to carve out a Burrow exception

Do you considered an NFL player who leaves when his contract is up a quitter if he signs with another team?

not comparable. he had "2 more years on his contract" at OSU

are y'all really trying to tie CFB in with actual collegiate academic performance? trust, me, this isn't a good road to go down

by this argument, any school that lowers admissions for athletes should be punished or banned from sports. because, you know, it's not about the actual sport these kids are recruited for. it's all about the academics, yeah. that's it.
