Perhaps Johnny wants as many scholarships available for a big recruiting class this season. My fear is that if the big prospects wait until the spring, and then we suck this season, we will be left out in the cold.

I get what you're saying, but I I do like Johnny's chances better of getting out there, selling the program, and getting guys up to being the future. He's more up to this task than his shite bird predecessor

I agree it seems like everyday Bubba is posting yet another 2013 or 2014 top 150 player that has us mentioned in their final list. Just the amount of big talents Johnny has had visit unofficially so far has far surpassed Pterodactyl Face in his 3 years. We may land none of them, but I think eventually Johnny convinces a couple of big timers to come in and be "the man".

Oh absolutely we need size in the worst way. Hopefully this run of BR kids will turn into another Bass, Davis, Mitchell, Thomas run. It seems like the local talent is set up go this if he can reel them in.

I kind of lump Shepherd and Jones together and Mickey and Martin together. I can't see us getting more than one of each, since they are similar players.

I would be happy with any combination. I also would have no problem taking Odoh when he graduates. That would give us some upper-classmen depth.

Can Godfrey come in for the spring semester like Odoh can or has that ship completely sailed?

I think the Godfrey ship has sailed. I heard he was maybe going to Southern. Odoh could come in, and be eligible next season with two years to play. This current season would be a redshirt.

I still have my doubts that Martin and Mickey would sign at the same school, but I would definitely take both.

I also have a hard time believing that we won't sign at least one Australian player.

LINK

Link there for those with Insider.

The cliff's notes: Johnny said no late transfer big men. He said they will model after Pitino's early Kentucky teams or Missouri last year.

Johnny said he didn't want to waste a scholarship that could be used on 2013 just to "patch up" this year's roster.

He did all but say Carmouche was in, saying they were waiting for a ruling from the SEC office on a guard. He did not say it was Carmourche, but, duh, right? It also doesn't say if it's a sure thing or if there's a chance the SEC won't allow it to happen.

Thanks. That's very disappointing. Johnny goes from confidently stating that he expected to add a transfer big man just a few weeks ago, to losing the big man he already had.

That also means that LSU will have a minimum of 5 scholarships available for 2013, with no attrition. It could be more.

Also, for 2014 a minimum of 3 scholarships will be available.

It is setting up nicely for what appears to be a couple of strong classes. We will see what Johnny can do.

They put more on their message board. Johnny said he'd go after three, maybe four bigs in recruiting.

He seems to really like Collins, Malik, Hammink and Shavon.

Really excited to see how the 2013 class winds up. I know Hickey, Collins, Morgan, Coleman, Hammink and JOB are scheduled to return. Wondering if Stringer or Courtney wind up transferring. At the very least, looks like five spots will be available, but could be more, like Bubba stated.

Obviously, Martin and Jones in-state are on the radar, plus Mickey and Shepherd from Texas. Do we go after David Taylor and the younger Hammink brothers, too?

The younger Hammink brothers are a mystery. I don't think they are on the level of Shane. As far as I can tell, they were not on the Netherlands U17 team. There could be a legitimate reason, based on their age or something, but Shane is on the U18.

However, they are at Canarias, so we should learn more about them this year, since CBA plays some high profile games.

Also get mixed reports on David Taylor. LSU is recruiting several other point guards as well, so that makes me think he isn't a priority for LSU. That is just a thought, and I do not have any information.

I just hope this season doesn't suck! Tired of those kind of seasons. Just let them be competitive and win at least six SEC games with an overall winning record.

My prediction for the season: 13-16. Non-conference losses-@Marquette, @Boise, Seton Hall(home) Conference wins: Miss St.(home and away), A&M(home), OM(home) and S. Carolina(home). With an uptempo style(plus JOB and Anthony Hickey), we should be able to score a lot of points. However, our lack of size will get us beat.

barring injury, i think we'll be a little better than most are expecting yet still not a postseason team.
