OHH NOOO!! Cecchini is going to be committed for 6 months till he gets drafted!!! AHH

As long as this doesn't impact getting Barbe football players, it means nothing.

Mainieri is too fricking lazy to even leave Baton Rouge to recruit let alone go all the way to Lake Charles. He'd rather sit around and BBQ with Javi Sanchez

Given that the parents have already shown that they are willing to mislead Mainieri, why in the world would anyone want Mainieri to allow LSU to be put into that situation again. He is doing the right thing in moving on to one of the many other prospects.

The problem is Cecchini's dad is the head baseball coach at barbe.....not exactly a family you want to cut off. Hopefully Mainieri's poor decision doesnt spill over in other sports.

Im sorry you cant blame a kid for taking over 1 million no matter what he said.

I agree with that. I didn't read the entire thread. If he really received 1.3 Million, then my entire argument is worthless.

I think this situation will have no bearing on us being able to get Smith (TE) from Barbe.

cecchini is retiring. lsu bigger than barbe/cecchini. he's had issues with jones at tulane and now p.m., what is the constant? cecchini.

lsu will be fine and repair the relationship once cecchini is gone much like evangel in football.

have we been hurt for not having a great relationship with curtis in football? no. and we won't be hurt by cecchini in baseball.

p.m. didn't break his word, cecchini did.

It won't. Historically, LSU doesn't get many players from Barbe. I don't know why, probably because Coach Cecchini sucks. Johnny Thibodeaux & Nick Bourgeois are the only two I can think of that made it to LSU. Wade Leblanc (alabama), Gabe Scott (alabama), Turner Brumby (tulane), among many others. Not to mention all the others that skipped college and went straight to the pros. Nagle, Angelini, Joe Lawerence, etc.

Also, Bianco was the head coach at McNeese in the late 90s, so I'm sure he has great ties with Barbe.

Laugh all you want. Mainieri admitted right after the season he had been a lazy recruiter and coach the last couple of years. Cecchini will likely never set foot on campus anyway but the staff has done a poor job all around getting guys who can do anything but pitch.

ok, but you are recruiting his players and kids. Not him. PM handled this like a bitch. Plain and simple. He's prideful to the point where it affects the program. Not good.

Players shouldn't have to name their price to him. It is their lives. If he doesn't like it, don't recruit him. But don't rescind an offer because a 18 year old kid changes his mind on a life altering decision .

ok, you don't like p.m., didn't like les miles either.

let's see what paul does this year and where the program is after the year. i'll say this, it's a hell of a lot better than freaking ole miss right now.

i have a feeling everyone jumping on him at this time will be kissing his @$$ by season's end.

you believe what he did is wrong, i believe what he did was right. he works for lsu.

dude, why you think he rescinded the offer? he didn't like it, he quit recruiting him.

You're fighting a losing battle. If you don't wash Mainieri's balls at every opportunity, you're just a troll who doesn't know anything.

3 months after the national championship does not equate to the countless hours they've spent before then and now on the recruiting trail. I'm not arguing with what you said just laughed at the way you worded it.

No I'm not going into the details because he is a friend and I'm not going to air his business over a message board. With that being said I'm also not calling out the staff. I simply am trying to tell you what I had first hand knowledge of concerning that situation

But as a 'friend' he is going to tell you the story from 'his' point of view...unless you personally were there, or had one of the coaches tell you something otherwise, then you really don't know the issue from an LSU point of view. It's just like in a divorce- the wife tells you one story, the husband a completely different one...we will probably never know the real truth, but I trust PM is doing the right thing for LSU...

I dont like Les Miles when he doesn't put our talented kids in position to win.

I don't believe Cecchini is retiring any time soon. He had 8 freshman starters last year and made it to the state finals. Going to have STUD teams for 3 more years.

I think he and his staff have been lazy the last 2 years to be honest. I'm not a Mainieri lover by any means though (not to be offensive). I think he's an average in game coach who has more resources than anyone in the nation.

I believe it was 4 freshman starters, with 6 seeing significant varsity time. And I think they made it to the state quarterfinals, getting beat 2-1 by the eventual state champion Jesuit team.
