I don't get the negativity… He had 20ish offers coming out of high school. Is a Baton Rouge kid, seemed like he wanted to go to LSU but the recruiting for him here shifted. Was on academic honor roll at Auburn, I get that doesn’t mean a lot but it already shows someone is responsible, and cares about hard work and schooling. You can’t entirely hate his upside given the situation and potential work ethic he brings. With the right staff he’ll be a solid contributor.

Heck, Michigan and Alabama went at him pretty hard out of high school. He was a redshirt freshman, to expect insane stats is wild to me. And Auburn has been a shite show since he’s been there, can’t blame the kid… And in his defense, that secondary had way too much going on in terms of veteran hats, he wasn’t getting serious shots even if he earned it. He only played in three games, and you’re not gonna say no to a Louisiana Freshman that has numerous years of eligibility left at a position of need...

It’s a message board to debate sports. If you take it personal you need to log off.

It’s hardly debating. It is whining like a 14 year old girl starting her period. Get a grip.

You have the wrong one.

If you have something to contribute, but all means. Tell us how you feel about Ausberry.
All I saw is you bitching about other’s bitching.

Am I rushing out to buy his jersey? Not really. But I’m not going to lose my fricking mind about adding depth onto a defense where we have plenty of spots to be filled. Who knows if he will take up a scholarship. We don’t know any of the details, so let’s just let it play out.

I think that’s exactly what I pointed out on page one. Even mentioned rooting for him.

I wasn’t even directing my message at you, just in general. And from your post history you’re far from a guy who doesn’t question things. that’s all I think many are doing. This year’s defense will do that.

Would he be a preferred walk on since his dad is an employee and tuition is covered?

Didn’t commit when we wanted him, then tries to come back when he can’t see the field on a bad team.

True, very true. But you can afford to toss a scholarship here and there at a freaking Louisiana redshirt Freshman that takes schooling very seriously, has an established great work ethic, and has the variables and the background to be very good. Last time I checked, LSU has signed 28 kids that can challenge for a starting role or be necessary depth at second-teams. They then got four (now) kids from the transfer portal that can seriously compete for starting roles, 3 that will most likely earn them no question asked. So now here’s this one measly kid they’re taking that flier on at a position of need, a measly Freshman that has numerous years of eligibility left. It don’t hurt, until it hurts.

Y’all gotta realize this staff gets paid millions to think this stuff through, look at the bright side, settle with the knee-jerk negativity. Dude has the GPA to get into UCLA and Theological vocations if he so desired. For those that don’t know, it’s easier to get into computer sciences and be an aerospace engineer. Dude was deadly in high school, so much so that Alabama wanted him bad. He has the skill sets, the physicality, and the background. Let them cook.

I guess Jacoby isn’t entering the portal this cycle

If the kid wants to be home great. Would not be a great use of a scholarship imo. Numbers are already tight whether he will be on scholarship or not.

Not that it’s everything but he’s got the same rank in the transfer portal as Gilbert

I swear to god I will never understand how people on this board are so confident when they’re completely and totally talking out of their asses.

Ausberry literally doesn’t even have a portal rating. 247 had him as an 89 out of HS and then he proceeded to make two assisted tackles and zero solo tackles in two years. So he does not have, and will not have, the same portal rating as Gilbert.

Seriously do you just like make things up out of thin air? There’s just no possible way to arrive at the conclusion that 247 gave he and gilbert the same portal rating.

With limited spots and more processing to do on the current roster, I can't see a scholarship being used here.

There is no such thing as a preferred walk on.

"A preferred walk-on offer means the coach would like you on the team but can't offer any financial assistance at least for the first year. Preferred walk-ons can earn a scholarship going into their second season, but nothing is guaranteed. Preferred walk-ons arrive at college with a roster spot guaranteed. They get help with admissions. Aid does depend on the sport. They can be cut at any time in camp. While the preferred walk on does not receive athletic scholarship monies, they do receive free gear and uniforms."

So you place more weight on what he did in high school than his atrocious 2 years in college? You can't be serious with that argument.
