I don’t watch Auburn football, but by all accounts he didn’t even see the field over there in 2 years. Not sure how giving him a scholarship over some guys who were higher rated and actually played makes us better. But I guess daddy made some calls. Hopefully it is a walk on spot.

disaster of epic proportion.

shows desperation never shown before.

we are missing out on other CB targets and this is what Sherman Wilson is excited and tweeting about?

Calm down We just landed a good portal CB as well and there are big commitments on tap the next two days.

If we didn’t use a scholarship, then this is a total non-issue.

Some things are as they appear.

This team needs immediate defensive help and this commitment doesn’t appear to address this immediate need.

I like most say welcome IF AND ONLY IF Austin Ausberry is coming as a preferred walk-on. But for you stargazers who disagree with that statement, he was not rated highly out of HS. He was at Auburn for 2 years and his picture was on the side of a milk carton. No one is attacking his character... only his ability to play significant football at a top 15 caliber team. If a scholarship was given, that was a mistake...they are too valuable trying to upgrade the defense.

On3 and 24/7 had him as a 3 star. You’d think this board would be thrilled. 1 assisted tackle in two years. This has to be a depth guy, but surely we could have used a scholarship better, no?

Well… he can’t be any worse that the dogshit secondary we fielded this year.

Y’all act like he’s coming in to take the place of Patrick Peterson or Tre White

Dude is coming to compete with Ashton Stamps

His stats at Auburn are not very good

He played 4 snaps in their first game & that was it.

Did he get hurt?

Psst, here's the goal. IF you don't like Ashton Stamps play, bring in a player who will EXCEED and REPLACE Ashton Stamps as the starter...not compete with him. Once again, if he is on scholarship, that is a waste of one.

That is fiction. I read the board back then and SOME criticized him but OTHERS said it was no big loss. That is the way many here worship the star ratings to say "the whole board" shite on a high 3* not coming to LSU. You must have been reading different posts. His brother I believe was maybe a 4* so maybe you are thinking about him.

I must point out also that this would reek of nepotism. I believe Tommy Moffit's son Aaron was given a scholarship back in 2017, and I thought that was a joke also!

Don't Employees of PUBLIC COLLEGE'S, children attend school free (pretty sure)
Therefore a Scholly doesn't get wasted as a PWO as his tuition is paid

Good post and it appears like it is a 50% coverage as you stated. The only ? is you linked to a resolution...did the resolution pass?

So you place more weight on what he did in high school than his atrocious 2 years in college?

Why are you saying his college years were atrocious? Were Debo Jones' first two years atrocious? Russell Shephard's? Ron Brooks? All of these guys took years to become players for LSU and they all went on to NFL careers.

I don't know much about 2023 Auburn, but several have noted that they had a good and experienced secondary. So it would be no wonder that he didn't play. LSU had a horrible defense this year and we had talented first and second year players on the bench. I'm not ready to write all of those guys off. Are you?

My only concern about Ausberry is that he didn't seem to play much special teams this season, which I would expect from a guy who is talented but behind veterans.
