Wouldn't he only have 1 year left? Kelly sounds like he only wants transfers who have multiple years available (as a general rule).

I think he'll make exceptions for potentially All SEC guys

We need him badly. He’s an all American caliber safety when he’s healthy. He’d be a great addition to this team and the type of addition that helps vault us into the playoff

1 of the best high school athletes I have ever seen. Watched him play against Aledo his junior year in the playoffs where he was the starting QB and starting FS, also returned kicks. Pretty rare combo of in 5A football.

he's had some injuries but is a potential 1st rounder, would be a huge add. Rumor is he's TCU bound like JOJO and Bech. Technically has 2 years left with the extra COVID year. I think if he has 1 good year he'll declare for the draft

Medical RS last year -2021- so should be at least 2 years left.

2020 won’t count against him as a Covid year. 3 years.

2019 - He redshirted
2020 - Doesn't count
2021 - Played 6 games (should count)
2022 - Only played 1 game, but he already redshirted. Generally you don't get an extra redshirt unless you miss two years due to injury.

Looks like 2 years left to me.

If two years gets us through 2024, that's enough for the next Championship. Worth it

For some reason I thought he was a senior I didn’t realize he had 2+ years eligibility left. That could be a big addition to the safety room when (IF) Greg Brooks comes back and major burns leave next year.

You make an exception on the 1 year thing for Catalon. He’s a plug and play starter at safety and possibly an all American.

Crazy that there hasn’t been more buzz around this guy

He should be our top target in the portal right now along with Denver Harris. We add Harris and Catalon to this secondary with the incoming class we have and it can be a special year

Pretty sure he got a medical redshirt. He played a half of a game this season.

Things have changed so much recently, I can't say for sure what the current rules are. However, just a few years ago this is how it worked (I don't think this has changed, but it could have).

A player has 5 years to play 4. (ignore Covid for this)

Redshirt (when a player plays in less than 4 games--previously was one play)

medical redshirt (when a player, who hasn't redshirted, played in 4 or fewer games (30% of season rounded up). Previously the 4 games had to be in the first half of the season. Don't believe it matters when now.)

The reason for the not having redshirted qualification is that if you already redshirted and got a medical, that would give you a 6th year and that wasn't allowed under these circumstances.

A sixth year was granted when the cause for not playing was not under the control of the player. Regardless for the reason a normal redshirt is considered under the control of a player. So to get the 6th year, a player must have 2 medical years.

I’m not gonna Google it or argue it. All I’m saying is 247 which is a recruiting site says he has 3 years of eligibility remaining.

Maybe the rules changed or his freshman season was a medical redshirt too. But you should be aware that citing 247 as an expert on this stuff is extremely dubious and risky...
