Are our NIL capabilities really still this far behind?

Or was Ricks leveraging a deal the entire time? I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t concerned about the situation, not because we are missing out on a recruit, but because we are missing out on a guy that seemed to want to be at LSU the entire recruiting process and we couldn’t match Bama’s NIL. In the modern college football landscape, we will have to be able to at least match other schools NIL, or we will continue to miss out on guys like Ricks.

If lsu gets a good player = NIL is strong

If lsu losses a player= NIL is weak

You realize how stupid you sound. It can’t be both

I would say we are competitive but not willing to break the bank for one guy. I think we have a limit we refuse to go over. After a while it shows the character of a player. You either want to be a Tiger or you don’t.

Not always. Not every kid goes to the hgihest bidder. Sure, some are just looking for the biggest payday, but not all of them. LSU signed 3 five stars and the 4th was a five star at one point this year, two of which were OOS. I'm sure they got offers but ended up coming to LSU.

I imagine we’re going to continue to miss the forest for the trees because of one recruit. Landed literally every guy we thought we would except one, yet we’re so far behind. Jesus Christ people. Got three five stars, but one goes to Bama and we all lose it. Sad.

We got deep pockets but there are school with deeper pockets

Unfortunately we are going against those school with a large number of our recruits.

Bama had NIL money earmarked for another recruit who ended up signing with another school. I think it’s pretty clear now that they told Ricks to wait until the day after the signing window opened to see if any additional money opened up. It did and now their offer is better than LSU. Ricks’ desire to sign with LSU was only when they had the best offer on the table.

Not a lick of proof that this is the case

Good luck to him if this is true.

Based on your question, I’m sure you know LSU is #6 in the consensus rankings. Does being #6 vs Top 5 really change his point? Is it suddenly a bust of a class?

A very impressive class by any reasonable metric.

I think LSU is willing to spend NIL as needed but not willing to get into a NIL bidding war for a single unproven HS player.

Which will likely climb after the transfer additions. But just for reference to maybe help my tiger friends take a breath for a minute, LSU finished 7th in 2017. That class included:

Stevens, Chaisson, Deculus, Shelvin, Phillips, Delpit, Vincent, Charles, Queen, Edwards-Helaire, Jefferson, Farrell, McMath, & Kirklin.

LSU has a boatload of good players in this years class.
