I'd imagine by after the Jordan Brand, it would be Monday when he can get to a fax machine at school

Stay tune. There will be national signing day coverage this Tuesday on ESPN. Just relax.

Not bothered at all. It's a major moment in the kids life and one that should be celebrated with his family, friends, coaches, etc. He was in NYC all week away from all of that. He should be signing real soon. Stop being selfish and let the kid have his moment. He's all LSU no need to worry.

Because we're still in the 1990's where fax is the best and most efficient way to return signed scholarship papers?

The guy wants to celebrate one of the biggest moments in his life with loved ones. What's wrong with that?

While not the most efficient, it is still the only legitimate way. Fans are accepted as legal and binding, where emails are not.

Oh really? Maybe you should inform the people that run the NLI website of that. As well as all of the prospective student-athletes that submit their signed scholarship papers electronically every year. And the institutions, including Lsu, that accept these signed documents in their electronic versions.

LINK

"Is it permissible to submit the NLI to the instituion by fax or electronically?

Yes. When you sign the NLI you enter into an agreement with the institution. Fax and email only represent the means by which you transmit the NLI. Accordingly, an NLI transmitted electronically is permissible. Be sure to follow the institution's instructions for signing and returning the NLI and athletics aid agreement to the institution. It is important that you keep a copy of the NLI and athletics aid agreement for your records."

Did he ever state that it would be immediately? I read where he said that he would put off the official signing until after the Jordan game, but I think LSU fans caught up in the excitement of this class threw in the notion that he was doing it that night or the following day.

Not bothered at all.

Now if Simmons wasnt signed and Blakeney was, that would be different.

Simmons is the key.

Blakeney may not have ever said immediately. But there are 1 or 2 wannabe insiders on here that definitely said it, so I can see where the confusion is coming from.

Efficiency is not the primary concern, data security and integrity is. A fax is preferable to email because:
1. fax can not be edited, the document is transmitted as is. The person faxing can do so for the signor, and can serve as witness it was not adultered. With the way these kids change their mind, do you see how it could be beneficial that the doc never makes it to a computer where foul play can be claimed?

2. fax communications are secure. Although tools like a secured drop box can be set up for each school, that may become expensive and maintained, and you still run into the problem from #1 above.

It won't always be the case, but for now, faxes have their time and place.
