Any Amite residents on here?

I don't live there but have friends there and being in the same Parish I can tell you, no it isn't Bama territory. The thing is the demographic of the football players in question are for sale. I will put it as bluntly as that. It has always been that way. That is the Governor won his very first election and members of his family have won elections. Their have been numerous cases of voter fraud in North Tangipahoa. The feds have been here looking into it many times in the past. If anyone doubts me just look it up. So it is just the thing that those people are for sale. If it wasn't Bama it would be someone else.

There is a certain "culcha" that HAS to be with a "winner". Go ahead, call me racist ... don't care, truth is truth.

Coach O needs to hire Pettito as a paid consultant in recruiting! You get him to tell LSU all the "dirty details" on HOW Saban and the REC has been working, and we counter that....

There you have it, this is the biggest issue with kids wanting to get away from this area.

As stated before, LSU passed over plenty of good players from this school in the late 90's and early 00's when they were competing for state championships every year.

Someone should tell these guys who was passing them over in the 00's... That would have been Nicky, mostly.

In the 90's we were not relevant and they should be thankful we passed on them!

Tangipahoa Parish is LSU country. The North end of the parish hasn't generally produced much eligible talent over the years. Jerryl Brazil at Loranger, Jeremy Cutrer at Sumner, then Carter from Kentwood and Smith from Amite, but other than that it has been slim pickings for elite athletes. The population of Tangipahoa Parish is in the southern area of Hammond and Ponchatoula and LSU has benefited there.

I don't see how this situation is any different than basketball coaches paying Christian Dawkins money to steer kids to their school. I mean that's what that entire federal investigation was about. Dawkins was handing some of the money over to the recruits family. And I'd tend to believe the barber is doing the same thing. Makes me wonder where else in Louisiana and other states Saban has someone like the barber who is getting paid and giving money to recruits families? Even if it is against NCAA regulations I suppose whether the NCAA would investigate depends on to whom and how much money Saban is paying NCAA officials.

I live in Amite. I was C/O 02. I was on the 99 state championship team. I can tell you that Amite is not all Bama but My entire 4 years in high school we had 1 guy offered that was Lester Ricard. I graduated with him and he went to LSU and Saban was around the program then. But after he left you never saw LSU around. Even when Kendrick Perry and James Burns were there LSU hardly came around. I have seen Coach O here at least 4 times since the summer which is a lot.

I live in Kentwood and I know the talent at every school in this parish. Just because you and people in the community think the players should be recruited and offered by LSU doesn't mean LSU is wrong in their evaluation of those players. Two of the players listed had SEC offers, there's a reason for that. Stop comparing Saban's approach and O's. Saban had to build connections with every high school coach regardless of the talent at the school, which is why he hired coach Bags. The relationships between LSU and the high school coaches were really bad. There was a period when Hammond and Independence had SEC level talent, LSU recruited, offered and signed most of them. When there was not SEC level talent at those schools, no SEC schools visit them. LSU hadn't been to Kentwood since '03 before Shyheim, we weren't whining about it because there was only one SEC level talent and he had huge grade issues. I believe he was more talented than D. Hookfin.

My entire family played for AMITE in football the most outstanding was Kendrick Perry

I played with him at Southeastern after he transferred from Ole Miss. As a safety, it got old tackling (or trying) him and Jay Lucas.

That junior high team in 2000 or 2001 from Amite went undefeated and unscored on, and won a state championship in high school a few years later.
