so why is he just now getting the offer?
This was the official "written" offer. They can't go out until August 1st according to a poster on this board. Doesn't make sense to me - they can get verbal offers and commit when they are in the 8th grade but can't get a "written" offer until August of their upcoming senior season.
Spivey received his verbal offer in June when he attended an LSU camp with his teammate and LSU commit - QB Peter Parrish who committed on June 22nd.
Recruits and media were posting pictures of their "official" offers on the day this thread was started.

Spivey sounds amazing....so why is he just now getting the offer? It would seem our staff prioritized other backs before him.
I'm not saying spivey sucks, I have no idea. It would seem this is like the chick at the bar who became much more attractive after you struck out on her hotter friends.
It could be a lot of things.
Maybe he didn't camp anywhere and didn't proactively put his name out there. It seems we only discovered him by looking into Parrish.
Maybe he's a big grade risk. I don't know anything besides the fact his very extensive film looks awesome against very good competition.
Also, to the person saying Alabama 7A could just be a bunch of frat bros, you're a fricking moron. This team beat Prattville last year. They play teams with plenty of D1 prospects. McGill-Toolen is another example.
ETA:
Again, I am not saying getting 3*s instead of higher ranked players is a good thing. I just think in this one case, this kid is really underrated.
He also split some carries with his older brother in 2017, who is now a RB at Mississippi Valley State. So we'll see what he does as the only feature guy this year. Just read he added a few pounds as well. I bet he earns some more offers this season.
Regardless, it will be fun to watch his career play out wherever after the fun debate on here.

quote:Can't send "official, written" offers to high school juniors. By the NCAA's calendar Aug 1 is the line as to when they became seniors. That line is designed to coincide with the NCAA contact periods, i.e. isn't really based on anything at the high school.

Damn. Hate hear how much of a beast Arkansas got today. Reading this thread makes him sound like a huge loss

I'm guessing Spivey will now be a scrub that wasn't worth a roster spot.

Not from anyone that actually watched his film. We just have bigger fish on the hook at the moment. Can't blame a kid for jumping on board where he's got a spot already.

Just talking about some posters on this board. For them, he will go from an underrated player that could be special to a scrub that is easily replaceable.
Just watch.

Absolutely. I think the hogs got a good one although he's nothing but tigerbait now and mostly worthless.

He's the #64 ranked RB in the nation. We sure as hell won't be losing sleep over his commitment to Arkansas.

Obviously the staff thinks he's much better than that.

Probably....but judging by his offer list, no other staff of a top 25 program does.

Well to be honest, how bad do you think the negative responses would be on tRant if we announce getting a commit from a low 3 star RB? Expect threads 15+ pages of hateful BS.
