Saban was cherry-picking Louisiana during the last 4-5 years of Les tenure.

Well he got a few good ones but he also got some that didn’t pan out. Like Hootie. Man there was a lot of whining about not getting Hootie but all Miles did was go get Jamal Adams. Hootie was a bust.

Does it matter that LSU recruits the state of Alabama? Does it matter that in the draft earlier this month two LSU players from Alabama were drafted? Why does nobody ever mention that little detail?

It does matter and LSU has recruited Alabama very well over the years. Inferiority complexes are a powerful thing. LSU fans are generally weak as shite.

2022: 4 signees during a transition year: Lewis, Law, Anderson and Preston

Law, Anderson, and Preston are going to end up being huge losses.

It was a transition year so I guess there was nothing that could have been done, but those 3 guys are going to be big time players.

Really wish we could've held onto Anderson, but for the most part I agree with this post

It's been vastly overrated, with only a few exceptions, during the Les Miles era as well. 2014 was the year that people think of but that was an anomaly. That's not to say that several of those players weren't a punch in the gut to lose.

Here is what I came up with. Only looked at players listed as from louisiana, anyon in that era who went to IMG or someplace like that would not be included.

17 Player in the top 50 from 2007-2016

2007: 1 player: 4th ranked in La Luther Davis - 4* SDE

2008: 1 Player:
8th ranked in La Robby Green - 4* CB

2009: 3 Players:
6th Ranked in La Eddie Lacy - 4* RB
10th Ranked in La Darrington Sentimore - 4* DT
11th Ranked in LA Kenny Bell - 4* WR

2010: 0 players

2011: 1 player:
6th ranked in La Bradley Sylve - 4* WR

2012: 2 Players:
1st ranked in La Landon Collins - 5* S
3rd ranked in La Denzel Duvall - 4* ILB

2013: 2 Players:
3rd ranked in La Tim Williams -4* WDE
14th ranked in La Denzel Duvall - 4* WR

2014: 4 Players:
2nd Ranked in La Cam Robinson - 5* OT
6th Ranked in La Hootie Jones - 4* S
9th Ranked in LA Cam Sims - 4* WR
18th Ranked in LA OJ Smith - 3* DT

2015: 1 player:
4th ranked in La Daylon Charlot - 4* WR

2016: 2 Players:
5th ranked in La Shyheim Carter - 4* CB
27th ranked in La Irv Smith Jr - 3* TE

LSU wasn’t going to sign all 3 anyway. LSU would have taken 2. LSU had many more pressing needs that. LSU’s WR room is loaded and the WR class this year is loaded as well.

Forgot about the Shyheim Carter saga. Ended up being a bust, and Irv Smith ended up being a gem.

It took a lot of work to hold them off guys like Roy, Boutte, Ryan, and a few others in 18-21.

Last year was alarming. Losing Williams, Holstein, and Ausberry will be very painful. That’s 7 top 100 players in 2 years.

It depends on who those players would be replaced with. The interstate goes both ways.

No one wants to tell me how many wins each Holstein and/or Derrick Williams will be worth at Alabama

2017 was bad at the time.

Moses, Allen, Mathis and Smith.

Was Allen the one we didn't offer?

How hard did we go after Smith? I can't remember.

This is impossible to predict. They could each never play a down or they could both win the Heisman.

My sample was the last 5 years. Mathis was before that.

We offered all four. Everyone mostly knows what happened with Moses. Mathis made a big production of his announcement, something about his friend who died wanting him to go to bama. We wanted Smith and Allen desperately, Smith decided well before NSD and I believe Allen was on NSD.
