Jaeden Roberts, the auburn OG decomit, should be a top priority for us.. He was CB’d to Alabama. But unless I’m misunderstanding the rules, they don’t seem to have room for him and BTJ anymore.

Are teams able to offer more than 25 scholarships?

Can someone legitimately explain this? I thought the rule was 25 scholarships but I keep seeing people say they can sign more this year. Why is this?

This is why I’m against removing a 25 scholarship limit. Bama would take everyone they could just to hurt us.

I think he's already signed with Alabama. We'll find out when he announces tomorrow.

So if that’s the case, does that mean they have 26 scholarship players this year? I’m really trying to understand how the scholarship limit works if there’s no limitation actually to it.

It’s 25 per year, 85 max. If they signed 24 last year, then one of their early enrollees this year can be back counted. That seems to be what posters keep alluding to.

However, 247 shows they signed 27 in 2019, 26 in 2020 (24 signees and 2 transfers), and are at 24 LOIs and Wheaton for 2021 (25). They should be done.

Because they didn't have 25 guys that counted towards the 2020 limit last class. I think they have room for 26 this year.

Simplistic thinking. BAMA, like all other schools recruits to fill needs. It has nothing to do with any other program.

Schools may sign over 25 if they have unused scholarships from the previous year.

If this is the case, since we only signed 22 last year, hypothetically that means we could sign 28 this year, then?

No transfers count. That’s what no one will address when discussing Alabama numbers.

So the kid Caden Clark who supposedly signed his LOI didn't make it in last year giving them one more slot?

In 2020 Alabama had
24 LOIs
1 late signee (assuming grey shirt)
2 transfers.

There is no way they can use the number 24 to back count for 1 scholarship in 2021.

We could have if we hadn't taken Cox, Shannahan and Evans

These guys blue shirt and gray shirt with Alabama boosters picking up the bill.

Essentially they are asked to walk on and get paid very well under the table.
