True, but like Carl Tucker transfered in but I doubt he was put on schollie, more than likely a walk on. He already has a degree so this is not a big deal for him at all, I would Imagine more than likely we have other guys who were on schollie but gave up their schollie rather than to transfer. Bear Bryants Grandson I doubt is on schollie but signed with Alabama. I believe we take Roberts, Arnold, and JTT to finish off this class. 27 or 28 This cycle will sign... Plus we willget schollies when Mac,Surstain,Waddle, and more than likely a few more underclassman go pro. We will also have a few transfer to other schools...

Tucker is 100% on scholarship. He plays quite a bit and was a decently high profile transfer from UNC

Pretty sure I read that they had room for 26 signees this year.

This is where u lose me. Because everyone else says there’s a hard 25 scholarship limit unless your back counting a class. And u can’t back count unless u have open spots from last class but if you count transfers there’s no way u have enough room.

I believe some of you might find this post informative if curious about bama’s numbers: LINK

If they end up getting Thomas, they break the record held by 2010 Florida class with 324.95 points. They'll probably get a couple of bumps of players (e.g. Koht) that will take them over the never before seen 325 mark.

There has to be something voluntary withdrawal addition. It can’t be as black and white as you are portraying it. If it were, LSU would be able to sign 45 people this cycle.

Not really because based on this voluntary exception rule LSU could really just have like 10 kids walk on for a “mini-semester” then just sign them all against the 85 scholarship limit. If I’m reading that correctly?

We have two open spots from last class. I don’t know where the 28th is coming from tho. Maybe a greyshirt or blueshirt?

You can back count schollie's if you don't sign 25. I would think you understand this, if you don't you don't you don't follow recruiting at all. Everyone use's this practice, not just bama. Plus nothing illegal about using blueshirts and greyshirts.

We all know this. But you can’t “back count schollie’s” every year and sign over 25 every year for 10 years straight. It’s mathematically impossible.

Nobody said greyshirts and blueshirts was against the rules. But constantly being able to convince 4 and 5 star recruits to do it, is absolutely fishy. Sure, it’s completely normal to get the occasional recruit to go for it, but not every year and not top players.

It is what it is and everyone knows that Bama is just an average college football program without the extreme measures they take at “bending the rules”. It’s what they have been known for since Bear Bryant.

It’s 25 per year, 85 max. If they signed 24 last year, then one of their early enrollees this year can be back counted. That seems to be what posters keep alluding to.

However, 247 shows they signed 27 in 2019, 26 in 2020 (24 signees and 2 transfers), and are at 24 LOIs and Wheaton for 2021 (25). They should be done.

The first-page posts in our pinned recruiting thread thoroughly track and document how all players (2018-21) count toward the annual 25 signings and initial counters limits and 85 total counters limits. All pertinent NCAA Bylaws and explanations are included.

Ya'll are welcome to read it.
