I just watched mayfield a highlights, he’s a player. He’s fast and can cover. He’s not that tall, but neither is Omar Speights. He looks like a lb prospect we should take a hard look at.

Stars matter except when they don't. Sometimes players are under or over rated early in the process of evaluating players. I trust the staff more at this point than 247 on under rated players. If he was the player that 247 had him rated as, they wouldn't have taken him.

Stars matter for sure but there are always exceptions to that rule. Justin Jefferson, Honey Badger and there are quite a few more…. This kid Breaux is special and if you see him play up close, you will walk away very impressed. He played TE his sophomore year and was very productive. His numbers don’t lie!
Mayfield would be a better addition than Adkins who is a 4 star. Mayfield has stood up and crushed top tier competition and been a two year starter and two year all state performer on the 5A level.

So when he ends up being a top 200 player and those teams are coming after him, he’s already in our class.
First of all these kids still have lots of play time left and growing to come. It’s entirely too early to be saying he’s not what LSU wants to be offering. He looks good now and our coaches get much more information on these guys. The players we've gotten so for and the play from the team says all I need to know.

In all fairness lsufanva is usually spot-on with intel and comments.
I tend to look at the average ratings of players, not if we are #2 or #9 in the team rankings. When I look at UGA in Rivals, their current average is 4.1 and ours is 3.7. UGA is ranked #1 and we are ranked 2nd, even though there are teams with a higher player averages (FL, Bama, USCe, ND, Ohio State).
With all that said, the early rankings are flawed and usually get better as they get other offers and get near their senior year in high school...

BTW, in 24/7 UGA average player rating is 95.92 and LSUs is 91.24, which is a big variance.

Not true, there’s guys that have less offers than some and is ranked higher. I’ve seen plenty of 4 stars / 5 stars get out played by 3 stars. I also seen a 3 star have 20+ offers from some of the big time schools
