I think this kid may challenged Ramos this year. Love Ramos and seems like a good kid, but we need to be able to kick from 45-50 with a little more consistency, and this kid brings it.
Not talked about due to his position, but man, stability at the spot for the next 4-6 years will be nice.

We are overdue for a kicker to pan out.

Kickers are a crap shoot, Connor Culp was highly rated and busted. Hopefully he works out.

Did you miss Cade York coming through?

But what does Gaston think?

I was half expecting Dibert to enter the transfer portal. Only kicking off is hardly conducive to an NFL career. And when he got hurt in the A&M game I think it was, I actually thought Ramos did fine on kickoffs. I like Burrell but at most he should try long FGs. Many teams have PKs who are used for the over 50 yard FGs.

If he's half as accurate at kicking as he is at shooting Alexander Hamilton, we've got a good one.

I think Aidan Corbello wins the job when Ramos leaves.
Burrell = Dibert.
Burrell = Dibert.

Ok, now that is one of the funniest posts I have read here!

There's no way either of those guys can seriously have NFL aspirations. He's probably prioritizing school.

We must've not watched the same kickoffs

I remember Ramos used basically the 2nd half of one game...believe it was A&M. Dibert got hurt and Ramos kicks were fine and didn't go out of bounds as some of Diberts do. Of course Atkins was a superb kickout guy when he was at LSU. Dibert is inconsistent on his distance unless he is being instructed to sometimes kick short of the EZ (which I doubt).

Burrell should be able to shore up kickoffs, but Dibert came in as a kickoff specialists as well. I get the feeling that the coaches expect accuracy at that position that kids out of HS just haven’t developed.
I’d love to see the spring FG charting results between Dibert, Ramos, and Corbello. My bet is the walk-on isn’t last.

Didn’t Coach say he was kicking them from 62 yards out?

Burrell’s field goals? No doubt Burrell has a range advantage over Ramos, but that’s not unique at this level.
No one on this staff (in the fall) has ever displayed both accuracy and distance like Cade York did coming into LSU, which is unfortunate…but we have what we have.
There’s a very good 2026 LA kid, hopefully LSU looks his way.

He’s billed as having the strongest leg in LA high school history. Hopefully he can be accurate.

Anyone have Burrells HS kicking stats?

That’s a joke. He couldn’t beat a kid (Abram Murray who signed with Miami and had two SEC scholarship offers before his Jr year of HS…the true #1 ‘24) in his own town…in his class in ANY field goal kicking competition you could ever dream up…or Peyton at Georgia (who turned down a Bama offer), from Lafayette, one year older. Both of those LA boys are more advanced, better legged kickers than Burrell.
ETA: there’s no shame in that…both of those kickers are likely to go pro.
