how do we let this kid get away from us?

he didn't "get away from us"... he's a big puddin'... he didn't live up to the expectations of the staff, and they cooled on him..

were we ever really a threat

early on, before camps and his Sr. year, we were a lock to get him... but as time went on and he didn't really help himself with his play and performance, we took a step back from him...

Well we did turn the heat back up on Ealy trying to land him. Hell we were recruiting him the year prior as well. So good luck to him. Great size and strength athlete. Some folks on here do sound bitter and take things personal when kids choose other schools.

I'm not bitter. You sound like a family member that can't handle the truth. He moved up our list due to his size and proximity. He moved off our list because he's soft. Miles got canned and O reached out to a few prospects (in case the class started to fall apart and we needed bodies or Miles removed people off the board prematurely). It was determined that he was still soft and still not a take.

When it comes to a lot of these kids and their "Look at Me, Look at Me" attitude, it's all about them and not the team. Easy to see why we didn't push for him. That video sends out a bad message. Primmadonna.

Oklahoma has come into Louisiana and signed a few players in recent years that turned out to be better than some who follow recruiting had projected. It will be interesting to see how Ealy's career at OU goes.

A lot of friends in nola & shreve tell me Bob stoops is regularly at local HS's but I don't think they actually beat LSU for anybody we truly want. Even Phillips, when he wanted us we wanted moses, which sucks in hindsight. Same w/Ignont & Reid. Not too worried about OU presence tho.

We cooled on him and did not go hard. This was expected, and we did not want other than a fall back.

as an OU fan, that was my understanding of how we ended up with him as well.

Stoops will develop him. Glad he's going somewhere besides the SEC West though. Congrats to Ealy on going to a good football school and continuing his education.

Ronk I'm not a family member at all. The kid was still being recruited again by Coach O. Check your source that he wasn't being recruited. He was and he picked Oklahoma. Some guys on here get bitter when kids pick other schools and turn into rantards and bitter bees. Just stated my opinon and you did as well. Thanks. I am glad you are not one of the bitter ones! Congrats and Good Luck to the kid Ealy.
