I live in Illinois and watched most of their games this year. Dude is a scorer. Stats aren’t anywhere near where they could be since he had Ayo and Cockburn on his team. Would be the 3pt weapon LSU needs badly.

The guys on the local radio up here were very surprised he was transferring out of Illinois.

Adam Miller would be an incredibly wonderful surprise. He can play strong defense and would be an instant impact guy. Obviously someone who started every game as a freshman on a 1 seed team is worth a scholarship.

We were pushing hard for Cockburn, I thought Wade almost had him.

He would be a big pickup, but you'd also have to wonder where that would leave Gaines and Cook. Transfers, particularly guys who were starters for their prior major-conf teams, aren't leaving to go somewhere else just to be reserves. They are going to a school that essentially promises them a starting job. Were Miller to transfer to LSU that means he and Pinson would be chiseled in as starters....PERIOD. That is potentially a really good backcourt. But it would also mean someone from the current roster is going to have to leave AND your two returning guards (Cook and Gaines) would have to accept another year of being reserves rather than starters.

I'm not saying you necessarily turn down a guy like Miller if he wants to come. Just thinking out loud as to what ripple effect it might cause

Cook and Gaines aren't getting any guarantees to be starters at another power 5 school so why leave?

I would imagine Josh Gray then Hyatt would be on the chopping block before Gaines and Cook. Though I think Hyatt turned the corner a bit and was a big asset on defense in the run up to the tournament.

LSU wasn't the only major school that recruited each so it is possible they still have relationships with coaches at other schools that could offer them what they think is better opportunity. Plus, they may feel that their coach bringing in two guys to essentially take the minutes that could have been available to Gaines or Cook means that Wade has moved on from them in terms of being starters.

Sure, we would like to see guys come in as freshmen and work to develop into better players as they get older but now, more than ever, that's not the way things are done. Guys will change schools at the drop of a hat. Hell, both Pinson AND Miller started EVERY GAME for major conf. programs that reached the NCAAT last season and STILL decided to move on! It used to be that guys transfered because their team wasn't very good and they wanted a better chance to succeed or, in most cases, they were frustrated with a lack of playing time. But look at the transfer portal. There are dozens, if not hundreds of guys who were starters on good teams who are transferring.

We are looking at maybe the largest single season roster turnover throughout the country in the history of the sport! Despite having zero seniors on the roster at the end of the season LSU could very well have a completely new starting 5 next season....with perhaps as many as 3 guys who weren't even at the school this year.

I don't see a way Will would ask Hyatt to leave, he has started 17 games in his first two years plus played in 53. I would think he is starting at the beginning of the year at least.

I would think adding another guard would put cook on transfer watch.. not that I want him too or anything I just think if he has to ride the bench another year he'd rather go somewhere to play.

I said this after the Michigan game. Jalen Cook apparently was not thrilled with his role this year and wants guarantees about next year. Knowing Wade, and seeing him get Pinson along with this Miller lean, I would not be shocked at all to see Cook leave.
