It absolutely pisses me the frick off when a hear about some of these kids being upset at LSU for not offering them when they haven't gotten their shite together in the class room. I was a blue chip and KNEW/UNDERSTOOD I had to get my shite straight.

Being resentful at a program who has always said you would get an offer when your grades are in order is petulent and immature......GROW THE frick UP! Believe it or not, reality is a cold dish found a EVERY program and the honeymoon ends very soon.

Sorry for the vent, but I just read yet another article with this garbage in it.

You do realize that most of this kids have grade trouble NOW because they did so bad as 9th graders, right? That puts them at 14-15 years old when the trouble actually occurred. Give them a break.

If you make good enough grades to pass the 9th grade, you have plenty opportunity to bring them up. It is not like you have a 0 GPA

No you don't. But you also don't have to make NCAA entrance requirements to pass the 9th grade either. You can make straight D's and pass, but that isn't going to get you into college.

If you make straight D's in LA High school you prolly shouldn't go to college, but you can still get your GPA up and score high enough on the ACT/SAT to get into college and clear NCAA.

Coaches should sit those players early on to stress academic...Many of these kids can make it to the next level (college) if they tried harder and realize the importance of an education...Parents also need to get off their butts and prepare their kids for school...As a teacher, I see this crap all the time...

Ya know what....frick that. It's not just about getting a scholly from LSU. They should want to do well in life at a young age. I did. If you didn't......too fricking bad. I'm tired of all the chit about the poor young kids. frick 'em. Get your grades in order. Get your damn life in order. Get off your lazy fricking arse! That's the message their parents should be preaching to them.

I'm tired of all the damn excuses. At what age do they start taking responsibility for their actions. I had a sister that came home from school without homework, yet I had homework. My mom asked sis, "you sure you weren't given any homework", yes mom, was her reply. We had the SAME fricking classes together. She made C's & D's; I made A's. Ya know, you get out of life what you put into it. These kids need to learn this at an early age.

First off, calm down. Secondly, you don't know anything about these kids' home lives to be making any assumptions about their academic progess. I know that one of them is committed to Bama and the other says they lead, but I'm curious, would you say the same thing to DeAngelo Benton, especially with the profanity?

They put in hard work in practice and football field and they get easier treatment by some teachers. Just saying that it swings both ways. It's hard to juggle practice, games, social life and school. Not saying it can't be done and the parents, teachers and kids should be more focused on academics, but what matters to most of those people are the sports they play. It's just a messed up priority system.

That is an ignorant post. First of all if you make straight D's you are not academically eligible in LA. Secondly, all athletes have 8 semesters of PE. That is 8 semesters of A's. For a kid to be ineligible is a HUGE sign of a lack of caring and character (unless of course there are learning issues). So your argument is terrible.

But even with this easier treatment they can't pass the standards. The concept of not passing the incredibly low standards just seems so foreign to me that I do not understand how anyone who puts in a litle effort could not pass the standards.

a gump trying to justify Sentimore's and Lacy's bitterness towards LSU. Shocker.

He should be bitter because LSU wouldn't offer unless he had his class room and off the field shite straight?

If you can't make the minimum standard to qualify for an athletic scholarship, you don't even BELONG in college.

I have no sympathy for these kids who can't make the grade. There are enough of them that CAN make the grade, so there's no shortage of athletes out there.

Kids who can't make the grade are obviously bad fits for college life... because they are surrounded by young men and women who DO make the grade, and easily exceed that standard in every category.

Just as your average academic-focused college student would be a bad fit on the football team, so are non-academic achieving athletes a bad fit in the classroom.

They don't belong, and it destroys the integrity of the learning environment for serious students.

If you can't make the minimum standard to get into college as an athlete, when you are given every advantage in doing so... then you shouldn't feel like a victim. The victims are the people who bought into the charade of your portrayal as a candidate for NCAA division 1 athletics.

I never said anything about their bitterness towards LSU. I responded to the bitterness shown by LSU fans toward these kids because they aren't falling all over themselves to attend LSU.

We agree on that.

Also, for what it's worth. It's not just about grades, it's about character issues as well. Miles is trying his damndest (and succeeding I think) to get high character guys. I'm not gonna slander Sentimore and Lacy, calling them bad character, but I do know where were questions about it for some.

Bottom line, parents follow Shep's folks' example and raise your kid right, him the importance of working hard in school and on the field. Kids, keep your nose clean and work hard in the class room. It'll all work out and reward you ten-fold.
