You want ANGRY OFFENSIVE LINEMEN WHO WILL ATTACK ANYONE Ever hear of a guy named KYLE TURLEY..... Oh yeah, TURLEY WAS NASTY AND AS PHYSICAL AS THEY COME
That “demeanor” is what Brian Kelly looks for in OLineman. Will Campbell, while not throwing punches I think, has that same kind of fighting mentality and he’s doing pretty well.
quote:
Campbell's parents raised him to be polite, but his mindset changes around kickoff. In the locker room before games, he smears eye black over his face and stares ahead, preparing himself to pummel whoever’s across from him. He likes the violence. He often blocks through the whistle. And maybe a little bit longer.
“I guess you could say I kinda got a quick temper when we step out there,” Campbell said.
“He's going to get some personal foul penalties,” Bull said. “I'm sure Brian Kelly will get all that out of him. But in high school, he was good for at least one a game.”

Reportedly struck a teammate
No way was he dismissed for a a practice fight. That is nonsense. Half the team would be dismissed. I don’t believe that at all.

Listen to Fournette and Moreau on the Bussin' with the Boys podcast.
Moreau was fighting in the lockerroom with a teammate wearing full uniform with cleats in the shower because he blew up the player on a block during practice.

Punched a teammate at practice. Don't think Kelly will want that around his program
Teammate fighting on the practice field is not uncommon. There is probably more to it than just fighting. He might have over stepped the bounds. I mean there is fighting then there is fighting. He may be the type that is a little crazy and can't let it go and causing a lot of team chemistry problems.

Based on what I've read, he has the diabeetus and has been at UW for 4 years and has been consistently inconsistent. He never was much more than a back up OT having occasional spot starts on both sides. He has been beat out for the starting job in fall camp the last couple of years by different guys.

I think the term 5 star lineman dies after 4 years of suckage

Lol. Burrow fought the entire defense one practice. It’s not a big deal.
I think Burrow knew nobody was going to really fight him back.

I guess for me, context matters.
I'm all for the team making a circle and two guys who have an issue walking to the middle of the circle, squaring up like men and squashing it afterwards. That's necessary sometimes.
But if he's just getting pissed off and suckered punching guys, that's not cool.
That said, of everything checks out, I think you take him, if only for depth. Plus Wisky linemen are usually well coached.

Give me a 5 star olineman that punches people all day. We need more nasty big uglies.

I smacked Todd Kinchen right in his mug in HS because he said he was better at returning punts and kicks then me. Imagine the audacity. Well I didn’t really smack him I actually just said “ yes sir” brought him a water bottle and quietly walked away without making eye contact lol.
I never played on any football team where some guy didn’t hit some other guy during a drill or something.

I would hope Kelly would be willing assuming that's all there is to the story.
He’s a head coach, it’s not hard to reach out and get every detail if he wanted to know

I think this team is good at tackle for a while, I would love to get two road graders at guard and a really good center. With LSU’s tackles being freshmen (all American quality, at least freshman honors) it seems like it wouldn’t be hard to take some really good guards to transfer in. If Jayden continues to improve and play well they may get a chance to have a special offense next year.

quote:no shite, it's kinda par for the course for linemen.
Players literally fight all the time in practice.
Now, if you sucker punch someone at the tape table that's one thing. But it ain't a good day if you don't at least head slap some DL in full pads.
