Because they have lots of money for NIL.

How could you commit to Oregon at this point with their conference falling apart around them and no clarity on who/where you'll be playing.

Would you rather be in a Gordon commercial or a Nike commercial? I don't care what conference Oregon is in it would be hard for any school to compete with the exposure they can offer a kid through Nike.

Exactly. Howard, along with our current depth chart means he likely does not see the field for a few seasons.

Isn't it that way with alot of schools?

I’m just hoping for Rickie Collins at this point, but it’s hard to recruit a great QB when you have Nuss and Howard as the obvious future

There is nothing obvious about the future currently with regards to college football. There never really was because of the always looming threat of injury, but add NIL and the transfer portal and things can change drastically at any time. Hell, just look how fast our QB room changed during the 2020 season.

Things are so unpredictable now, that I don’t think looking at the roster should carry the same weight that it previously did. I’m not predicting it and certainly not hoping for it, but there’s a plausible scenario where Collins could wind up the starter in ‘24. And a higher than 0 chance he could start games in ‘23.

I think Nuss and Howard are both potentially our starters next season and Daniels has another season if he wants to use it and fight for the starting spot. Collins has all the tools the staff is looking for but I think with Nuss/Howard being freshmen it will be hard to pull a great QB. We shall see.

I’m inferring that you’re implying that Brennan starts this year. And he very well may. (And just to get this out of the way, I am not predicting or hoping Daniels—or anybody else—will start. Just going to talk this out).

I was listening to a radio show over a month ago (either during the spring or maybe right after) and they were talking about our QB situation, specifically Daniels. And I’m pretty sure it was a national show. If it was a local show, they had a national guy/gal on with ties to Arizona State. Or maybe it was an ASU insider. Regardless, they were very familiar with Daniels and talked about how involved his mom is in his future. He/they decided to transfer to a place where he would start, get developed, show off his talent, and declare for the draft. And they either directly quoted his mom or paraphrased her, but it was very clear their plan is for him to be in the NFL next year. Now, their plan could have certainly changed by now and I don’t think CBK promised them Daniels would be the starter this year, but it was very clear that he had to at least promise him/them a very, very real opportunity to be able to compete and win the job this year.

Again, I’m not predicting or hoping Daniels will start this year. But I don’t think he was recruited simply for depth. They weren’t going to just give him the job, but I honestly think they (Kelly and Denbrock) want(em) him to win it and are/were going to give him every opportunity to do so. I think he’s the prototype for the offense they’d like to run. Now, they want to win more than they are married to a particular offense, so they’ll tailor the offense to Brennan if he’s clearly the best option. But I think Daniels has a much better chance than a lot of fans seem to think. And if Daniels does wind up starting, LSU becomes a lot more attractive to Collins imo.

So you are worried about bk recruiting out of state but your sources said Dante to A&M. This confirms you’re a moron
